Chapter 9
I hesitated for a moment.
Jordan was afraid that I didn’t understand, so he hurriedly explained, “It’s the place where you and Rhys used to live. Since Rhys came home the day before yesterday, he hasn’t gone out or spoken to anyone. He’s been like a lost soul.”
The originally calm mood suddenly became tense.
I asked urgently, “What happened exactly?” “Where are you? I will come to pick you up right away,
Jet’s meet and talk about it.”
Although I had already broken up with Rhys, I couldn’t just stand by even if we were just friends.
After sending the location to Jordan, he arrived in just fifteen minutes.
I got in the car and anxiously asked, “Tell me the whole story of what happened.”
Originally, the day before yesterday was Kaitlin’s funeral. Despite her efforts to stay in this world, the illness ultimately took her away.
During her final moments, Rhys was by her side all along.
When Kaitlin closed her eyes, Rhys cried like a child, heartbroken.
After her funeral, Rhys and Jordan, her good friends, drank alcohol.
Jordan and the others knew that Rhys was drowning his sorrows in alcohol, so they advised him to drink less and try to accept and move on, and to try to be more optimistic.
Rhys insisted on drinking, saying that it was fine.
He sent him back, and Jordan deliberately stayed for a while to make sure everything was fine
before returning.
But since yesterday morning, Rhys has not said a word after waking up.
He looked at the photos of me and him from the past, lost in thought.
No matter how Jordan shouted at him, or even cursed at him, he showed no reaction at all, as if he
were a vegetable.
Jordan looked worried and said, “I saw something off about him, so I called you right away. Bridget, I also know that Rhys was a jerk before and did something that hurt you.”
“But, considering that you once loved each other, could you please help him?”
“At least let him speak normally, don’t be like a dead person, it’s too damn scary.”
I was willing to come, which already indicated that I would do my best to help.
Chapter 9
When Farrived at Rhys’s house, I saw that he was indeed as Jordan had described. He was sitting on the ground, holding a photo of us from the past, with an expressionless face, as if he were in a daze.
Jordan stepped forward and greeted, “Rhys, you motherfucker, take a look at who has arrived.”
Rhys remained indifferent.
I saw that he was really not right, and my heart felt like it was being tightly squeezed by someone,
which was very uncomfortable.
I squatted down and looked at Rhys, waving my hand gently in front of his eyes. “Rhys, I am Bridget, look at me.‘
Rhys still showed no response. Jordan’s face was filled with horror as they cautiously asked, “Could it be that he has suffered such a great blow that it has caused him to go insane?”
I was also worried that he would continue like this, so I gently called his name again, “Rhys, it’s
me, Bridget, do you remember me?”
Seeing that he didn’t react, I, in a state of urgency, grabbed his arm and twisted it forcefully.
Rhys cried out in pain, “He has sensation, he has sensation!”
I shouted out in excitement.
The next second, Rhys suddenly hugged me and started sobbing
I stood still, at a loss, and could only look at Jordan.
He was also very surprised and said with a smile, “Damn it, Rhys, you almost scared the hell out of me. I thought you…”
“I’m fine,” Rhys released me, his
his eyes filled with tears and gratitude as he said, “Bridget, thank
you for coming to see me.”
I looked at him cautiously, still not quite reassured. “Are you really okay?”
He looked really scary just now.
Rhys smiled and shook his head, “I really am fine.”
saya
“Why didn’t you say anything just now? You didn’t even have any expression?”
He chuckled as if he deserved a beating, “I just wanted to see if you would feel sorry.”
After realizing that I had been fooled, I got up and walked away angrily.
Rhys hurriedly caught up with me, grabbing my arm and pleading, “Bridget, don’t go, stay, please?”
I broke free from his hand and regained my previous determination, “Rhys, we were over.”
Chapter 9
“No!” he shook his head vigorously, refusing to accept this reality, and cried, “If it’s really over, why did you come? You must still have me in your heart, right?”
He was indeed still in my heart.
But I just treated him as a friend.
Turning around, I stared at Rhys without a hint of emotion, “Even if I saw a stranger collapse on the street, I would still feel a bit concerned.”
“So, you don’t have to overthink anymore,” Rhys was struck like lightning, trembled for a moment,
and his eyes filled with despair.
I turned around again, not meeting his gaze, and said coldly, “Stop making the people around you. worry about you. Otherwise, how can Kaitlin rest in peace?”
As I walked out the door, I heard Rhys wailing behind me, his cries tearing at my heart.
In that moment, my eyes also stung a little.
