Chapter 6
I left there without looking back.
Got on a taxi.
The driver glanced at the rearview mirror and asked, “Miss, did you have a fight with your boyfriend? Do you want me to stop for a moment?”
I looked at him with some confusion.
The driver explained, “Your boyfriend was chasing behind all the time.”
I suppressed the urge to turn back and said with a cold face, “Sir, please speed up.
The driver shook his head helplessly and had no choice but to step on the accelerator.
The car raced away in a cloud of dust.
Rhys couldn’t catch up and shouted loudly from behind, “Bridget, Bridget…”
I pretended not to hear, secretly telling myself in my heart that I would never turn back no matter
what.
The sound became fainter and fainter, gradually receding into the distance.
Until it couldn’t be heard.
After I went back, I grabbed my suitcase and left this home where I had lived for five years, carrying many of my dreams.
Standing at the entrance of the residential area, I didn’t know which way to go.
After my parents passed away, I relied solely on Rhys.
I had told him before that wherever he is, home is there. Now that we suddenly broke up, where should I go from here?
After a brief hesitation, I took my suitcase and went to the hotel to check–in.
After arriving at the hotel room, I started searching for rental information online.
Rhys called, and I declined the call.
I blocked him after he hit me again.
He actually called me again using someone else’s phone.
I got so angry that I shouted loudly at my phone, “Don’t call me again, are you annoying? Go away!”
My mood was completely disrupted by him.
Chapter 5
In a fit of anger, I turned on airplane mode and didn’t care about anything.
In the past, my life always revolved around him, with his joys and sorrows as the main focus.
Suddenly being separated from him, I really felt a bit uncomfortable.
Lying in bed, I played a single–player game for a while and soon became drowsy.
At night, the door was suddenly knocked, “Knock, knock, knock.”
The urgent knocking sound, as if it wanted to break down the door.
yawned, got up and went to open the door, only to find that there were police officers and hotel staff standing outside.
He presented his identification and asked, “Excuse me, are you Ms. Bridget Stuart?”
I nodded silently.
He let out a sigh of relief and gave a relaxed smile, “Finally found you.”
He took out his phone and started reporting, “Hello, Chief. I found her. I will send you the location. right away. Please ask the person who filed the case to come and identify her.”
I listened in a daze, feeling my emotions uncontrollably tense up. Carefully, I asked, “Excuse me, what happened? Did I do something wrong?”
I slept for a few hours, and it gave me a headache. Now my mind is all mush, and I severely lack the ability to think.
He saw the nervousness on my face and explained with a smile, “Don’t be afraid, you haven’t done anything wrong. Someone came to the police station and reported that their girlfriend had gone missing, and it’s highly likely that they might harm themselves.”
“Well, we all mobilized and searched for you everywhere. Up until now, we have been searching for almost eight hours, and finally, we found you.”
I exclaimed and curiously asked, “Who reported the case?”
“Of course it was your boyfriend, Rhys.”
As soon as I heard it was him, I instantly became furious and said, “He was not my boyfriend.”
Turning around and going back to the room to pack my things, I was getting ready to leave the hotel. Since he had already reported to the director, Rhys would definitely know, and he might be on
his way now.
I didn’t want to see him.
Before, I didn’t go to seek refuge with friends or best friends, I stayed alone in a hotel, just because I didn’t want to see Rhys.
Because I knew those people, he knew thein all.
If I went to my friend’s place to stay, he could easily find me.
However, I didn’t expect that he would actually search for me all over the world in this way.
In the past, when Rhys and I had an argument, he would also look for me everywhere.
Every time I see him, exhausted and sweating profusely, in a frantic rush to find me, I feel very happy.
But now, I truly detest.
