They even used the wedding gift money to cover the expenses of the banquet, so in the end, they didn’t spend a single penny themselves. Is this how they freeloaded a daughter–in–law?
This is nothing. Scarlet raised her hand and greedily set her sights on the jade bracelet on her wrist, saying naturally, “I think I’ll just do this! This bracelet is nice, it can be a family heirloom. On the day of your wedding, I will personally pass it to you and have you wear it in front of all our relatives and friends. With so many people watching, you will have a lot of face, won’t you?”

have to insist on this face?
I sneered and glanced at Drew, wanting to see his reaction. As a result, Drew grinned with a big face,
just like her mother.
“Penelope, my mother meant to borrow this bracelet from you for a while and then bring it out on
the wedding day for you to wear. It’s just a formality, so don’t think too much about it. The bracelet
still belongs to you. The main purpose is to show our family’s appreciation for you to our relatives
and friends. It’s also for your reputation, you know!”
So this was his true face, wanting to freeload just like his parents.
“Taking my things and giving them to me as heirlooms? I want to ask you, whose family is being passed down and whose treasure is being held? Are you all taking me for a fool?”
Kolby snapped his fork down with a “bang“. “What do you mean, don’t you agree to get married?”
Scarlet’s face also changed, and she said with her chin raised, “Penelope, I have to remind you, you
have to think carefully. With your current conditions, it’s not easy to find someone like our Drew!”
“What happened to my condition? Why did it become difficult all of a sudden?”
“Do you really want me to spell it out for you? Look at yourself, earning less than four thousand
dollars every month, lazy and greedy, spending money recklessly. Tell me, what kind of family would be interested in someone like you as their daughter–in–law?”
“We could accept you all because of Drew’s face. You are now living in Drew’s house and spending Drew’s money, but in the end, you tell us that you won’t get married? You can’t behave like this!”
I couldn’t bear it anymore and slammed the table. “Who told you this is Drew’s house? Who told you I spent Drew’s money? I can’t believe how scheming you all are… What were you thinking? Drew, tell your mother to return the bracelet to me immediately and take them both out of my house. I’m not serving them anymore!”

“Kick me out? What gives you the right to kick me out? This is my house, it’s you who should leave! All of you, get out now!”
Drew gritted his teeth and shouted at me, “Shut up!”

I stood there like that, with drops of nosebleed falling to the ground one by one. The room was unusually quiet, and I could hear the sound of the blood drops hitting the floor.
Drew was also confused, his gaze fell on the hand that had hit me, and all five fingers were trembling slightly.
