In the seventh year of our marriage, my husband wanted to hold a wedding ceremony for me.
But no one told me that the wedding venue had been changed at the last minute.
After waiting for five hours at the hotel on the mountain, I felt like a fool.
My husband’s so–called sister posted a photo on her social media.
The two people in the picture were wearing snow–white suits and gowns, their lips pressed
together, resembling a perfect couple.
“In this lifetime, you and I are not destined to be together, we can only be siblings. In the next
lifetime, I will definitely be yours.”
I laughed and replied, “No need to wait for the next lifetime. Now that he’s stained, I’ll let you have
him this lifetime.”

Almost instantly after the comment was posted, Joaquin Griffin called me.
In a confrontational tone, he said, “Diana, do you find it fun to act like a jealous woman? Nyla cried
when she saw what you posted!”
I was confused. “Why did she cry? She didn’t even feel it shame to kiss my husband.”
The voice on the phone choked for a moment, then he quickly realized and argued forcefully, “It
was just a simple kiss, your mind is filthy, seeing everything as dirty.”
A simple kiss? I laughed absurdly.
For seven years of marriage, I had always been the subordinate in this relationship. I thought that
as long as I made concessions, he would understand and appreciate me.
Some people are insatiable, and each time the other side gives in, it only encourages them to push
for more.
This photo was like the final straw that broke the camel’s back.
I was really tired.
So I interrupted him and said slowly, word by word, “Let’s get divorced.”
Joaquin fell silent, just as I was getting impatient and about to hang up the phone.
He hesitantly said, “You are not being rational right now. Today, I promised my daughter to pick

I thought about it and decided to spend the night in the hotel.

After checking in, I immediately went to sleep.
I didn’t know how long had passed when suddenly the telephone rang.
After I groggily answered the call, an anxious voice came through, saying, “Diana, why haven’t you come to pick up Lia yet? It’s almost eight o’clock.”
My whole body was like being splashed with cold water and I instantly woke up.
I sat up abruptly and asked in a daze, “Didn’t her father go pick her?”
“No, Joaquin’s phone was not reachable, and it took me three tries to reach you as well. Can you parents be a bit more attentive?”
I blushed with shame, apologizing as I put on

After humbly communicating with Ms. Colter, I immediately called Joaquin.
After a mechanical ring, the phone still went unanswered.
I was thoroughly disappointed and started to hail a taxi using a software.
For nearly half an hour, no car was willing to come here.
I paced back and forth in the lobby, the pouring rain outside and thunder rumbling.
Suddenly, a lightning bolt exploded in mid–air.
It seemed like something flashed before my eyes, and then I inexplicably opened my phone.
The original post with the picture on Nyla Moreno’s account had disappeared, replaced by a new
post.

I recognized Joaquin at first sight.
I was lost in thought, married for seven years, and he had never set foot in the kitchen.

I laughed silently twice, but the rain outside showed no sign of stopping
