Chapter 5
There was a little girl sitting in the seat across from me, pale–faced and clutching her stomach.
I was about to ask if you needed any help.
There came a sudden sound of hurried footsteps.
The school uniform worn by the teenager was filled with the scent of youth.
When he stopped, his forehead and corners of his eyes were covered in sweat.
‘Giada, how are you? I brought you a hot water bottle, hold it for a while.”
The girl, clearly in pain and unable to straighten her back, still smiled and shook her head, saying,
“I’m fine, don’t worry about me.”
This sentence instantly made my eyes well up with tears.
The scene in front of me was very familiar.
That time I had my period; I don’t know why it was particularly painful.
During the class meeting, I was in so much pain that I was lying on the desk, sweating profusely,
and didn’t even have the strength to raise my hand.
The head teacher was too busy giving a speech and didn’t notice anything unusual about me.
The genius boy in the eyes of that teacher suddenly stood up, disregarding the gazes of everyone,
and the chair made a harsh scraping sound on the floor.
Alvin ran towards me in a panic and lifted me up.
On the way to the medical room, his hands were still trembling.
I nestled in his arms, enduring the pain, and whispered to him, “I’m fine, don’t worry.”
Back then, Alvin would disregard the strange looks from others and go to the supermarket to buy sanitary products for me.
That handsome boy, with the picturesque moonlight, would linger in front of the women’s product
shelves for half an hour, just to study which brand is the safest.
That boy was my youth.
A sudden desire for self–harm surged from deep within the heart.
Since it already hurt so much, let it hurt a little more.
I opened social media.
She updated the content: “My birthday is in two days, but that day my boss asked me to accompany

him on a business trip to Belldale. Poor working person, crying.”
Her fans were all happy for her.
“Silly little fool, your boss wanted to take you out for your birthday!”
“I envy it so much; I have only seen such scenes in novels.”
“You guys quickly get together and make my ship come true.”
The hand holding the phone tightened more and more.
Alvin, you said it.
He would never abandon me.
They would never abandon me like my parents did.
What you said.
You said you couldn’t.
I buried my head in my knees and hugged myself.
Hide in their own world like an ostrich.
Hug yourself.
