Chapter 4
Faced with these groundless things, I did not neglect them.
Thad already taken action, just needed to wait for the right moment.
Gisselle used to enjoy gossiping and spreading rumors about others, especially false and
scandalous ones.
She often gossiped with her close colleagues in the restroom, while I bribed the restroom cleaner.
had her wear a recorder on her body, so whenever she saw Gisselle coming, she pretended to clean
and went over to record.
I already had several pieces of evidence in my hand that she spread rumors about me and others.
In the first month of working in the Purchasing Department, a big task was encountered.
I wanted to discuss cooperation with the head supplier.
If negotiated successfully, it would greatly increase the company’s profits.
In the evening, I was working on important documents when Leonard walked over with a cup of hot
latte and squeezed my shoulder.
“Have you been too tired recently? Seeing you like this breaks my heart, Audrey,” he said gently.
Then he pressed his face against my neck and said, “Are you still blaming me for what happened last time? I really just care about you, Audrey. Do you believe me?”
He knelt on the ground, crying, begging me to forgive him.
I looked down on him from above.
He did this for only two reasons. First, he was afraid of losing the resources I provided him. Second,
he relaxed my vigilance and was about to strike again.
Suddenly, I saw the document on the computer and had a sudden realization. “I trust you, Leonard. Can you help me revise the document?”
His eyes lit up, and he immediately went from tears to laughter, hugging me and saying, “Let me take care of the documents, I’ll help you with them.”
I pretended to be tired and yawned, handing him the computer, ready to go back to my room and sleep.
Through the crack of the door, I watched Leonard in the living room, diligently editing the documents with a determined expression on his face.

bet Leonard would definitely use this document to come after me
Finally, the day of negotiation arrived. The entire Purchasing Department was waiting in the conference room for the arrival of the supplier.
The manager asked us to check the documents that we would use later. Gisselle looked at the computer and suddenly exclaimed.
“What should we do without an important quotation?”
The surrounding colleagues were discussing fervently.
opened all the files and checked around, but the only thing missing was the important quotation sheet that I was responsible for.
I lifted my head and looked at Leonard, who met my gaze without any guilt.
Yesterday afternoon, I finished the final inspection and discovered several mistakes, so I asked
Leonard to help me make the corrections.
After he finished modifying it, he asked me to check it again. Once I confirmed that there were no errors, I was about to back it up on a USB drive. However, he stopped me and said that it had already been backed up and sent to all colleagues.
Upon hearing him say that, I no longer paid attention to the matter of the documents.
I didn’t expect him to be waiting for me here.
I closed the computer. “It’s my responsibility,” I said. The manager frowned at me and said, “The people are about to arrive, and there’s no time to make another one. Look for a backup.”
I shook my head, Leonard must have completely destroyed the documents, no need to look for
them.
Gisselle was the first to stand up and accuse me, saying, “Now that such an important document is missing, we cannot proceed with the collaboration, and you will be held fully responsible! You are supposed to be in charge, yet you made such a huge mistake at work.”
Other female colleagues who were on good terms with her also shot me accusing and disdainful glances, one after another, and echoed her.
Leonard seemed to stand up to defend me and said, “Alright, alright, the person is coming soon. Let
me think of a way to handle it.”
He secretly rejoiced in his heart. Now she had made a big mistake and definitely couldn’t continue to be the supervisor. It was only natural for him to take over next.
At the peak of the storm, I remained calm and composed.
“Oh no, the person has arrived.”
