Chapter 2
I didn’t know how I left there.
Sitting on the bench by the street, I felt like a lifeless shell, completely stunned, with Rhys‘ words echoing in my mind.
“Kaitlin was the woman I had loved for over a decade.”
Seven years ago,
ago, he knelt down on one knee in front of thousands of teachers and students, holding
flowers, and asked me to be his girlfriend.
Travel with me, stay up all night to watch the sunrise, take couple photos as phone wallpapers.
Then he made a wish upon the shooting star.
Did he also love Kaitlin in his heart when he personally put the wedding ring on my finger and said.
he would love only me for a lifetime?
These beautiful memories, which I once cherished like treasures, now feel like sharp swords, piercing through my heart.
And the one holding the sword was none other than the person I loved the most. Unable to hold back my emotions any longer, I sat on the bench and burst into loud sobs..
Passersby looked at me with astonishment on their faces.
It rained heavily.
The pedestrians started running home, but I had already become homeless.
Rhys suddenly called.
I was just about to answer when I remembered what he said, and without any hesitation, I hung up.
He called again.
I refused again.
Finally, I simply turned off the device.
I didn’t want to hear his voice.
I don’t know how long it had been when suddenly I heard someone speaking beside me, full of concern, “With such heavy rain, why don’t you find a place to take shelter? What if you catch a cold?”
I suddenly shivered and realized that the rain hadn’t hit me.
In hindsight, as I slowly looked up, I saw that Rhys was actually standing beside me, holding up an umbrella for me.
Chapter 2
He saw me soaked from head to toe, with a look of pity in his eyes.
He took off his clothes and gently draped them over me, his eyes filled with guilt as he said, “Bridget, let’s go home.”
I looked at him in astonishment.
At this moment.
I really wish nothing had happened. I stood up and slapped him after ripping open his shirt, shouting at the top of my lungs, “Get out of here, I don’t want to see you!”
Tears mixed with rainwater slid down.
I shivered, not knowing whether it was because of the cold or anger.
This was still my first time laying hands on him.
Rhys turned his face to the side and hesitated for a few seconds before slowly turning back to look at
- me.
His eyes were slightly red, and his expression was at a loss.
He looked at me, then lowered his head, lightly biting his lip, looking as if he had done something wrong, standing there without saying a word,
I slapped him again, and tears overflowed uncontrollably like a breached dam.
His face was marked with five fingerprints, bright red and eye–catching.
I was hitting again.
Hit me again. Rhys suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me into his arms, holding me tightly as if he wanted to merge me into his body. “Bridget, I’m sorry, I’m sorry…”
The umbrella fell on the ground.
The heavy rain soaked both of us.
The strong body trembled for the first time.
As I listened to his tearful apology, my originally firm heart was softened by him in that moment.
That night, I did not share a room with him. Perhaps from crying too much, I lay in bed, my vision blurred and drowsy, unable to distinguish between dreams and reality.
A sunny young man wearing a jersey suddenly appeared in front of me and shouted, “Bridget, wait for me. When I earn enough money to buy a house, I will marry you.”
He blushed and avoided my gaze, unable to look directly at me.
The voice also became hoarse due to excessive tension.
Ashicere and pure confession moved me to tears, and I couldn’t help but be overwhelmed.
However, before I had a chance to answer, Rhys suddenly snapped me back to reality with his cold and hurtful words, “Tomorrow, I will officially marry Kaitlin. I hope you won’t come and cause
trouble.”
