My boyfriend knew I had a promotion interview coming up, yet he turned off my alarm clock on

purpose

Because I was late, I missed my chance. When I confronted him, he said he did it out of concern. Seeing me working too late last night, he wanted me to catch up on sleep

That exact same night, I saw a text message from a female colleague to him

Honey, you did the right thing. Women shouldn’t be too careerdriven. She should learn from me

just wanna be a housewife, serving you whenever you need.”

The next day, I parachuted into my boyfriend’s department

Looking at the flirty text message, I couldn’t help but sneer

She just failed to appreciate your good intentions; you didn’t do anything wrong

Women shouldn’t be too careerdriven. She should learn from me. I just wanna be a housewife

serving you whenever you need.”

Yesterday was my promotion interview. For this opportunity, I had been working overtime for an

average of three hours every day for the past six months, and my performance had been

consistently in the top two in my department

But my boyfriend Leonard Gilmore turned off the alarm clock I had set because he thought it would be better for me to sleep in after working late on the presentation. As a result, I missed the election

because I was late

When I confronted him, he said, I was worried about you staying up late with that presentation last

night. I wanted you to get more sleep. Audrey, you actually doubt my intentions? I’m so

disappointed in you.”

We didn’t talk to each other the whole day. When I got home, he was taking a shower, and

impulsively checked his phone

There were a few text messages from Gisselle Donovan, the girl from his department

Turned out he was cold to me because he had an affair

I was planning to dump Leonard anyway, but seeing these messages made me want to tease them

So I went out onto the balcony and called my dad

Dad, I want to transfer to the Purchasing Department. If I can learn from every department, I’ll be able to take over our company sooner.”

Leonard continued to give me the silent treatment. As he was about to leave for work, I walked straight up to him and held out my hand. Give me the car keys.”

His face changed as he placed the keys in my hand with a forced smile. Audrey, don’t you usually

drive the other one?”

I had two cars: an affordable one for commuting and a luxury one. The affordable one was bought so as not to appear too flashy at work

Leonard once told me he liked that luxury car, so I let him drive it, thinking that a man needed some Prestige in public too

Leonard followed me into the garage as I got into the car and started it up. He then sat in the

passenger seat

I turned to look at him, saying, Get out. You go take the subway to work.”

Audrey, come on,he pouted and refused to leave

As you said, we need to avoid arousing suspicion. Even though we’re not in the same department, office romances are still frowned upon.”

After saying that, I pushed him out of the car and sped off with a roar of the engine

In my rearview mirror, I saw Leonard standing there, grinding his teeth. He had never driven me before, citing the need to avoid suspicion of an office romance. Every time, it was me who arrived at the office a little later in another car

Now that I thought about it, he was like a gigolo
