Chapter 4
Aurora took the opportunity to take out her makeup bag and smiled as she spoke.
“I knew Hazel wasn’t what Mr. Gilbert had in mind. Once the misunderstanding is cleared up, everything will be fine. Luckily, I brought cosmetics, the ones Mr. Gilbert personally picked out for the last annual meeting. You can make do with them for now.”
I glanced at her makeup bag, and the contents inside were highly similar to the gift Josiah had given
- me.
‘No need, I find used things dirty.”
Josiah’s patience reached its limit.
“Hazel, don’t be too harsh, Aurora meant well too.”
“Did you
know that cosmetics were harmful to the health of the fetus?”
He held back the anger he didn’t express once again.
He seemed somewhat taken aback, as if he hadn’t expected me to be so calm.
Aurora chuckled twice and apologized, “It’s my fault for not considering everything. I’ll go to the nearby mall and buy you something specifically for pregnant women, okay?”
I didn’t agree, nor did I refuse.
His eyes were fixed on her clothes.
As if just realizing, she smiled with a shy face.
“Sorry Hazel, I stayed over at your place last night and didn’t bring any spare clothes. I noticed
there was a new piece of clothing without the price tag, so I wore it temporarily and borrowed it for
a while.”
“Don’t be angry, when we go back today, I will buy you exactly the same one again.”
Josiah was afraid that I would get angry and upset again, so he spoke in agreement.
“It’s just a piece of clothing, you can’t wear it now even if you’re fat, and it’s just sitting there. After giving birth, I’ll buy you a bigger size.”
That was the fifth anniversary gift he gave me before I got pregnant, but he had already forgotten.
I knew that it was not just a matter of clothing-
But it was not the challenge to me as a wife that Aurora faced when she entered the room.
But now, I don’t even want to make a fuss.
Chapter 4
“No need, it’s just a piece of clothing, I’ll give it to you.”
Josiah’s eyes flickered with a hint of surprise.
My calmness made him increasingly uneasy.
Aurora tried to make him smile by cracking jokes, but she couldn’t get a smile out of him even once.
When the musical started, Josiah finally spoke.
“There were many people watching the drama. Please stay close to me and don’t get separated. Be
careful of your steps and let me know if you have any problems.”
I have wanted to watch this musical for a long time, but Josiah kept saying he was busy.
I didn’t expect that in the end, it was thanks to Aurora that I had the opportunity to enter.
I laughed at myself self–deprecatingly.
After entering, according to the agreement, I wanted to pull Josiah.
Reaching out, he had already been dragged far away by Aurora.
There was no one around me.
The seat I bought was in the front row, but by the time I got there, the musical had already started.
Josiah was helping Aurora tidy up her removed coat.
The gaze towards me was filled with apologies.
The little girl had never seen these before, so she was too excited to pay attention to you. Don’t be
angry.”
I nodded, indifferent.
And I said, “Don’t be angry, I won’t be angry anymore in the future. After the musical is over, don’t leave yet, I have something to tell you about the child.”
But he seemed not to have heard me, because Aurora called him again to help her take a photo.
The musical was halfway through when a prop on the stage suddenly fell off and rolled down.
In a two–second reaction time, people around ran and seats flipped.
Only I, as a pregnant woman, stood bewildered in place, with cold sweat drenching my entire body.
When he wanted to catch Josiah, he instead held Aurora tightly in his arms.
After a loud noise, the props rolled to a stop in front of me..
It happened to be right in the position of my stomach.
Chapter 4
One more minute closer, and It would have hit the child.
He didn’t even have time to look at me. At the moment when the escape passage opened, he rushed
out with Aurora in his arms.
Finally, the on–site staff supported me and helped me out.
Outside the door, Josiah’s figure was still nowhere to be seen.
The staff were concerned about my health and insisted on taking me to the hospital for
examination.
tnally, I saw him outside the emergency room.
He was busy helping Aurora queue up for registration.
“You were really lucky, Hazel.”
I ignored her and stared fixedly at Josiah’s back.
The disappointed heart shattered at this moment, and the last trace of reluctance was also completely consumed by him.
Aurora reached out and touched my stomach, wearing a strange smirk on her face.
“I wonder if you could still escape the third time.”
I frowned and flung her hand away.
I was still a step behind in reacting.
She grabbed my hand and, at the moment Josiah turned around, her body fell straight down the
stairs behind.
After a loud noise, Josiah rushed past me.
He pushed me hard because I was blocking his way.
I exerted too much force and rolled down the stairs.
My stomach heavily collided with the wall before stopping.
In an instant, a sharp pain made me numb and my vision blurred.
There were only faint pleas left in his mouth.
“Josiah… save me…”
But he didn’t even look at me, he rushed into the emergency room holding Aurora.
Before losing consciousness, the doctor on duty that night found me and immediately called for help.
Chapter 4
“Surgery time, help me advance it, I want to have an abortion right now…”
She looked at me with blood flowing profusely beneath me, stuttering as she spoke.
“Even if you wanted to protect it now, you couldn’t protect it anymore!”
“Hurry, prepare for the induced labor operation! The patient has already made an appointment!”
Hearing the last sentence, I closed my eyes with relief.
When the anesthesia entered the body.
