Chapter 12
Noticing that everything was exposed, Keith no longer resisted. He fell to his knees and clung to Cassandra’s slender legs, sobbing. “I’m sorry, Cassie! But you have to trust me. I never meant to hurt Seb.
“This whole thing was my dad’s idea. He wanted to use me to get close to you, so he forced me to set up this whole scheme to frame Seb.
“I disagreed at first. I kept telling my dad not to do it, but he told me that Sebastian’s feelings for you were those of a man for a woman.
“He said that if you knew Sebastian had cancer, you would be so heartbroken that you’d agree to be with him. And that would mean I would have no
chance.”
ve with you I
Keith cried out, “I made a mistake, Cassie, but I did it because I love you so much. In the time we’ve spent together, I’ve fallen madly in love don’t want our relationship to just be an act. I want to stay by your side and be your man!”
With these words, Keith tore his shirt and lunged at Cassandra. “I love you, Cassie! I want you. Please give me a chance! I love you! I really do! I’ll do anything to stay with you!”
But his desperate actions were met with nothing but cold disdain. Cassandra, filled with disgust, kicked him away without hesitation
“Keith, there’s no need for you to defend yourself because nothing you say matters anymore.” Her voice was chilling. “It doesn’t matter whether this was your idea or your dad’s. From today, your dad will no longer be the director of Gracefield Hospital, and your half–brother will lose his medical license.
“You won’t receive a single cent. And I guarantee that as long as I live, your family will never find a decent job in Clacton!”
Cassandra knew all too well that Keith didn’t love her. What he was after was her wealth and status, nothing more.
He didn’t want to live as an ordinary person. He dreamed of soaring to greater heights, of becoming a rich man’s son–in–law, and of living a life of luxury. He wanted to enjoy everything that money could buy
For a man as vain and materialistic as him, the best punishment wasn’t to kill him but to let him live a life of poverty and struggle, where he would never get what he wanted.
Sure enough, after hearing Cassandra’s words, Keith collapsed to the ground. His face was filled with despair.
“Hahaha! Cassandra, you think I made Sebastian leave? No! You’re wrong! I only lit the spark. The one who truly drove him away was you!”
At his breaking point, Keith lost all rationality. He pointed at Cassandra and shouted, “I’m just a nobody! Sebastian doesn’t care what I say or do
“Even if I shouted in his ear every day, saying ‘Cassie doesn’t love you. She hates you. Get out and stop bothering her,‘ it wouldn’t matter. He wouldn’t be hurt, and he wouldn’t leave.
“What really broke him was your actions! You deliberately ignored him and even paid me to provoke him! You even threw a grand wedding for me. Hahaha! Cassandra, you’re such a hypocrite!”
After a scoff, Keith continued, “You say you don’t love Sebastian, but you’ve already fallen for him, haven’t you? You just won’t admit it because of your status. Cassandra, you fell for your much younger brother. Are you crazy?
“Not only are you crazy, but you’re also timid! Sebastian liked you, and at least he had the courage to say it. But you? You only dared to love him in secret, never having the courage to say it aloud.
“You even did all these foolish things and drove away the man you loved, the man who was on the verge of death! Hahaha! You’re a fool, Cassandra! The biggest fool in the world!”
