Chapter 43

HECTOR’S POINT OF VIEW

“Savannah!” I called as I made my way into her room, and she stopped on her tracks, then turned towards me slowly.

“Yes, brother mine,” she teased, then stopped when her eyes met with my face and saw how angry I looked.

“Is everything okay?” she asked in a soft tone, and I couldn’t help but sigh.

“Of course, everything is not okay. I just talked to Aunt Lucia a few minutes ago, and I can’t believe you of all people would do something so uncalled for!” I snapped, and she rolled her eyes, acting nonchalantly.

“What do you mean by you can’t believe I’d do something so uncalled for? What exactly have I done?” Savannah questioned cluelessly.

“What did you say to Aunt?” I demanded, and her eyes flashed with hurt.

“Oh, so that’s it? You hear something from the saint you call an aunt and didn’t think it necessary to ask me first?” she challenged angrily.

“The reason I have come to ask you!” I burst out angrily, and she chuckled out bitter tears.

“No! You have not come to ask me; you have come to put it to me that I had no rights whatsoever to talk to Aunt Lucia like that she shouted, and I rubbed my face.

“Savannah, you have no idea what she has gone through because of Hayden and me. After Mom’s death, she gave up on getting a family of her own and decided to stick to raising us…” I trailed off.

“While I was locked away in the cave because I obviously did not fit into the criteria of the Royal family,” she laughed mockingly.

“Savannah, just because Dad did those terrible things to you doesn’t make us like him. We are different, and it’s high time you open up to people,” I urged calmly.

She snapped, “You don’t get to tell me what to do with my life because you have no idea what it feels like to be 16 all your life. No, you don’t.”

“You don’t know how it feels to not love someone so much because, in the end, they’ll give up on you… I have faced the harsh realities of what being Savannah feels like, and trust me, I’d do anything not to be me!” She added, and I scratched my beards in frustration.

“Your favourite aunt has no rights whatsoever to try to dictate things for me,” she spat angrily as she burst out crying.

“Come here, Savvy,” I murmured and pulled her into my arms. I could literally feel the pain radiating out of her as she tried to get a grip on her emotions, which was not going well.

“Let it out, Savannah. I know it’s hard on you, but you need to let it out to get yourself,” I consoled as she sobbed bitterly. “It hurts, Hector. It fucking hurts so much,” she sobbed, and I rubbed her back to help her relax.

“Everything will be alright, I promise you,” I whispered and kissed her forehead before making my way out of her room. Aunt’s words rang in my head as I got into my car. “East wing,” I directed, and the chauffeur sat in the driver’s seat.

“Where should I take you?” he inquired, and I rubbed my forehead.

“Do you have an idea where Jena’s cave is located?” I asked curiously.

“The new seer in the park he replied, and I hummed.

“Somewhere around the east wing. She doesn’t come out much he revealed, and I nodded.

Just take me there, and my whereabouts should remain a secret. On no account should it get out that you took me to Jena’s cave,” I instructed, and he bowed his head in obedience.

“Noted, Alpha,” he responded, and I tilted my head to the left side, as I leaned back on the chair and watched him drive me to Jena’s cave.

“I’m certain your claims about Isabel are not true,” I countered, and she chuckled.

“You believe they’re not true, yet you’re here in my cave?” she questioned.

“Isabel’s existence in this pack has been mysterious from the onset. But accusing her of separating the pack and bringing chaos is just uncalled for,” I muttered, and she walked over to me.

“What should I offer you? Water, wine, or juice?” she offered, and I sat down with a thud.

“I did not come here to familiarize myself with you. I came here for something serious,” I declared, which made her smirk

“Indeed,” she replied with a smirk.

ISABEL’S POINT OF VIEW

“It’s getting worse, Isa, and no matter what happens, I want you to stay indoors for the meantime, at least until we are able to calm the masses down,” Hayden advised as he tried to leave my room, and I held him by the hand.

“What’s going on?” I inquired as my voice broke at the edge.

“Baby, you have nothing to worry about. I’ve got this covered.”

“No, you don’t get it! You don’t get it, Hades. I can’t just sit back here when my reputation in the pack has gone down the drain. It’s killing me,” I lamented, and Hayden looked at me with pity evident in his eyes.

“So, what do you want to do? Go out there and confront the protesters?” He asked, and I folded my hand under my breast.

“That’s going to be the most stupid thing to do at this point, okay!” he exploded angrily, and I looked at him with tears glittering in my eyes

“I know it’s not easy for you, and you really want the pack members to come to terms with the real you and love you for who you are, but these things take time,” he assured me as he held my hands lovingly.

I replied, “How much time would it take? Months, weeks, years, days? How much time? Because the days that go by get me more suffocated!”

“I can’t even look at myself in the mirror due to the tag your pack members have placed on me. I try not to think about it, but that’s not possible considering the fact that it’s always playing in my mind, I murmured, and he took a deep breath in and out, then stared at me calmly.

“I want to go out there and confront that which you think would get me into trouble… maybe we can start from there,” I suggested, and he sighed.

“It’s clear that you have decided to do what’s on your mind,” he observed and turned away.

“My Luna…” Gina rushed in, crying bitterly.

“What’s wrong?” I asked her as our attention moved over to where she stood, just outside

my door.

“We have a situation. One of the protesters just lost her daughter and she has brought her to the palace with a large crowd outside the palace. They are very angry,” Gina said, and my eyes clouded with unshed tears.

“Fuck!” Hayden cursed under his breath as he rubbed his face anxiously.

“Stay right here, Isabel. They’re angry, and it’s going to get worse, he instructed, and as he left my room, I sat back on the bed with a thud.

“I’m so sorry, my Luna.” Gina genuinely looked so worried about me, which only added to my stress.

The fact that they were all so worried about me yet, they wouldn’t let me face the harsh realities of the pack made me feel

Just like the Alpha has said, I suggest you stay back here and try to put yourself together…” Gina advised as I rushed out of the room.

“My Luna, please don’t do this…” she ran after me, trying to get me back to the room.

“Isabel, you can’t face the crowd. We have a lot of things we need to worry about, and you know it,” Savannah stood outside the large doors.

“Send her away!”

“She’s cursed!”

“I lost my husband because of her!”

“The prophecies are slowly coming to pass,” each word hurt greater than the first, and I was tearing up inside.

“I can feel every of your emotion right now, Isabel. Trust me, hearing more of this will break you apart. Maybe you should just go back inside…” Savannah trailed off.

“I can’t. I just can’t sit back and do nothing… it breaks my heart to see my fears coming to life.” I commented.

“Why would that Jena come out of nowhere to ruin my chances at true happiness? Maybe facing the pack members and dying from whatever they decide to do with me would be better than nothing,” I stated as I felt a burning sensation in my hands.

“Isabel… Isabel, you can’t…” She stopped talking when I burst outside through the doors.

You’ve brought us nothing but pain!” their hurtful words increased every the milliseconds.

“Babe, I asked you to stay indoors, didn’t I?” Hayden questioned angrily, and as they noticed me walking closer, an unusual calmness entered the scene.

“My poor baby… the mother of the child cried out as she hugged her close to her bosom.

“She wasn’t even sick…” She lamented bitterly.

“What’s on your mind, Isabel? You can’t go that close,” Ryna, my wolf scolded me telepathically.

You can’t go that close, Isabel” Ryna warned me, but I ignored her, and I squatted, staring directly at the dead child.

“Now is the time… I heard a voice whisper in my mind. I placed my hand on the child’s forehead and shut my eyes. I had no idea what was guiding me or where these thoughts were coming from, but they just flowed into me.

The crowd murmured in hushed tones, wondering what I was up to. I could feel the power drain from me, and I staggered backwards. Hayden hold me still, and everyone watched as colour return to the child’s cheeks. Suddenly, the little children coughed out blood, and then her eyes flew open.
