Chapter 26
HECTOR’S POINT OF VIEW
“Savannah, we are cursed too by the moon goddess. It’s crazy, but we can’t continue the family line until we are sexually involved with our true mate, which is Isabel…” I paused.
“Celeste’s Curse,” she replied, moving closer.
“Come closer, Isabel,” Savannah instructed, and Isabel stepped toward her. She might have the body of a teenager, but with the number of years she has lived, it was quite obvious she was mature.
“Join your hands with mine,” she requested, and Isabel placed her hands on hers. Hayden and I watched silently as her eyes dimmed, then turned plain white.
“Oh my goodness,” Hayden mumbled under his breath, but I managed to catch his words, which made me turn to him. “Calm down,” I urged him, and we both continued to observe her quietly. She let go of Isabel’s hands and stared at us.
“It’s complicated,” she admitted, her gaze shifting over to us.
“What does it say?” Isabel asked curiously.
“The curse is connected to your bloodline, which is quite mysterious. But somehow, I can’t delve deeper,” she explained. My bloodline? My parents believe I’m the only cursed one in the family,” Isabel remarked, her eyes flashing with hurt.
“There’s more to everything, Isabel. Maybe you should do some proper research. There’s a lot going on that we don’t know

“So, what do we do?” Hayden questioned.
“Those nightmares are just the curse calling out to you, Isabel. The curse must be broken before her 18th birthday because her life is already in grave danger,” she calmly explained.
“A love connection will break the curse. Once there’s love between the three of you, and you’re all mated right before the clock strikes on her birthday, the curse will be broken. Any minute late, and you might lose her forever. Once she’s gone, don’t see a second–chance mate,” Savannah stated evenly.
My instincts to protect her only intensified at this point. Yes, I had my own desires as to what our mate should have been, but Isabel is what we’ve got. It’s up to us to shape her into what we want.
“Thank you, Savannah,” Hayden acknowledged, though she stared back at him with a bored expression.
“Do not thank me, Hayden. It’s up to you to put measures in place for my release. I will not remain stuck here in this cave because they are trying to protect me from your father’s mistakes,” she responded, her eyes flashing with hurt.

The resentment when she mentioned our father made me even more curious. “Why do you think they locked me up in this dungeon? He couldn’t come to terms with the fact that he had a cursed daughter from the moon goddess, the one who turned 16 and could no longer age. So he locked me up and brought witches from different clans to try and break the curse. It led to the fight in his marriage to our mother.” She reveals.
“Father blamed her for birthing a disaster, and countless times she tried to get him to love her again. It was his quest for a solution that led him to the greatest of them all…” Savannah continued.
“Celeste?” Isabel gasped.

trouble from the start, and this seemed to be an even bigger problem.

“What started is his desire for a solution to his daughter’s troubles turned into an obsession. He started having an affair with her, which led to something else. Celeste revealed I was cursed by fate, and Father wanted me dead…” she trailed off.
“Please tell me he didn’t try to kill you?” Hayden asked.
“He stuck a dagger in my heart three times and then threw me in this dungeon,” she said, chuckling bitterly.
“Oh my goodness, I… I don’t know what to say,” Isabel murmured, covering her mouth in shock.
“Their marriage fell apart when he declared the killing of all witches since they couldn’t provide the answers he wanted, and he found out about Celeste’s relationship with a werewolf warrior. He wanted her dead as well as all her people,” Savannah revealed.
“We believe there was more to everything. He must have found out something crazier than what I know. I tried to channel my power, but it leaves me in pain, and I can’t control it sometimes,” Savannah added, wiping the tears that had rolled down her face.
“Everything will fall into place, Savannah. Once the curse is broken, we’ll make sure to get you out of this dungeon. It’s a promise,” Hayden assured her, and she nodded.
“I hope it all ends well. I just want to be left alone,” she declared, turning her back to us.
I held Isabel by the hand as we led her out of Savannah’s cave. Everything we had just heard was proof enough that we had to take many precautions to ensure she was protected at all costs
“I’ll see her off to her room,” I told Hayden, and he nodded, leaving me with Isabel.
“You look stressed and disturbed. If anything, Lwant you to stop thinking about the curse and try to be normal. It’s hard, but everything will be okay,” I reassured her, and she nodded.
Isabel was still uneasy around me, but she didn’t show it as much as she used to.
“Goodnight, Hector,” she said, kissing my cheek.
“Goodnight, Isabel,” I responded and made my

way toward my room, the day’s events replaying in my mind.
“Good morning, Luna. How was your meeting with Savannah yesterday? Does she really exist?” Gina asked all at once, so curious to hear the answer.
“She exists, Gina. If anything, that meeting yesterday opened my eyes to an even bigger truth. I’m speechless,” I replied as she placed my breakfast on the table and gazed at my face.

“That must have been a hard pill for her to swallow,” Gina remarked in shock, and I smiled.
“Somehow, we just have to come to terms with the fact that the people we love don’t love us back,” I continued, and she understood I was referring to my family.
“Everything will fall into place, Luna. You just have to know your rights in the palace and stand by them. You are the Luna, and nothing can change that,” she declared, and I nodded.

I made my way to the garden to keep myself busy. As I trimmed the flowers, Lady Lucia approached me angrily.
“Isabel,” she called, and I turned to her.
“Lady Lucia,” I responded in the same tone, which clearly didn’t sit well with her.

“I see you’ve decided to feel so important that you can’t recognize my authority in this palace…” she trailed off, and I just stared at her calmly.
“I am talking to you, Isabel!” she snapped angrily when she realized I wasn’t going to say anything else.
“So what do you want me to do?” I questioned, as she took steps closer to me, trying to intimidate me.
“Lady Lucia, I have shown you nothing but respect since I entered this mansion as their mate. But you’ve tried to step on my toes countless times, it’s sickening,” I retorted, and her jaw dropped.
“What do you think? Just because you’ve managed to get the brothers on your side, you think they’ll stick with you after the curse is broken?” she challenged, trying to raise my insecurities.
“They won’t stay, just like the others before them. It’s time you accept your curse and stop causing trouble,” she sneered, but I watched her calmly.
“Shouldn’t I be the one cowering in fear at the truth you just stated? Why are you so upset on my behalf, Lady Lucia?” I mocked.
“You believe I’ll be ruined, humiliated, and disgraced after the curse is broken. Why don’t you leave me to my fate and stop interfering?” I questioned, noticing the flash of guilt in her eyes.
“You’re threatened by my presence in this house, and that’s going to be your reality because I have come to stay,” I declared. She raised her hand to strike me, but I grabbed her wrist, my anger flaring.
“Don’t you dare try to touch me!” I snapped, and she froze.
