Chapter 20
ISABEL’S POINT OF VIEW
“Hayden.” I called as I made my way into his room with some fresh fruits on the tray I was carrying.
I
“Isabel, you did not inform me you’d be keeping my company,” he said, and I smiled as I dropped the tray of fresh fruits in
front of him.
“You seem busy. I wanted to take you by surprise. I picked these fruits form the garden myself, I muttered, and he smiled as he stopped typing on his laptop and stared at me.
“It’s just some pack documents. It’s important we keep everything on track, you know,” he uttered, and I nodded.
“Indeed,” I said, and stared at my feet.
“You definitely want to tell me something, I can sense it, he declared, and I tried to hide the blush that crept through my
cheeks.
“I’m fine. Hayden. I’ve just been very bored lately, with you and Hector busy with pack duties. I was wondering if you guys had a library around. I love reading.” I murmured, playing with my fingers and he stared at me.
“We have a library, Isabel. What kind of books do you like? I could get the librarian to bring them over, he offered as he turned towards the fruits and picked an apple.
“No, I want to get a view of it myself, enjoy the feeling of being inside a library. I could use the school library, but with the increasing hate from the student, I don’t want any more issues. just want to study and graduate peacefully, I explained in my calmest and convincing tone.
“You have a point. With your birthday coming up, you don’t deserve to be in that kind of situation. I believe I have a bunch of keys to access the library. I could give you one of mine. Il instruct a guard to join you,” he remarked, as I tried to hide the smile that threatened to spread on my face.
“Oh, about that, I think I’m fine with just my handmaid,” I said, and he raised his eyebrows.
“You sure? I thought she was recently assigned to you. I can’t believe you like her company so much already. She must be fun, he teased, and I smiled.
“Gina is a nice person. You should meet her too,” I confessed, and he hummed. He walked over to his drawer beside his bed and brought out the key.
Thanks, Hayden.” I appreciated as I kissed his cheek and made my way out of his room happily. I had always known that he’s the only one I could get it from. Hector is a no go area. That guy has a mind of his own, trying to get the keys from him would be a third world war.
I made my way
ay out of his room and sighed in relief. I walked towards the servants quarters to meet Gina, and immediately our eyes met, I smirked.
“I believe your mission was a success,” she joked as she bowed her head in respect.
“Enough with the bowing, Gina. You’re my friend,” I uttered, and she smiled.
I am honored to have such privilege,” she replied, and I chuckled.
“You know, it’s still weird when people treat me like royalty,” I pointed out as we walked out of the servants quarters together.
I believe you will get used to it soon,” she replied, smiling, and we chuckled.

“So, how did you manage to get the keys? I was not expecting that mission to be a success,” she teased, and I chuckled.
“Hayden is the most understanding of the brothers. Yes, he has his moments, but unlike Hector, he listens to me. I think he likes me,” 1 voiced out and smiled at my thoughts.
“You like him too,” she commented, and I took a deep breath in and out.
“Tve been disappointed by the outcome of my last relationships. Six times I trusted guys who knew their rejection would cause my death, yet they rejected me without remorse and dated my sisters.”
“Six times I faced humiliation and had my hopes shattered because I dared to dream,”
“I’m not about to make the same mistake all over again by trusting my second chance mates. At least not until the curse is broken. It might kill me if I face the same fate again, I explained and her eyes softened in my direction.
“Something tells me this second chance mate will be better than the others, dear. Just have faith, she encouraged me, as we got to the large doors of the library.
The place was unusually quiet.
“Was he suspicious when you asked for the keys?” Gina asked curiously.
“I’m not stupid enough to directly ask him. I said I was bored, that he is always busy with the pack duty, and since I had nothing to do, I would love to invest my time in reading books. He loved the idea and handed his keys to me,” explained to her, and she smilled.
“You’re a smart lady, Isabel
“The traits of a Luna showing themselves in full swing,” she joked, and we both laughed.
“Welcome to the Royal Library,” the librarian declared as he let us through the large doors. He looked old, with white hair and big reading glasses on his sharp nose. His uniform looked very dusty.
“You are indeed very beautiful, young Luna. I have heard the princes found their mate, he began as he bowed
“Thank you, sir…” I trailed off as I turned to Gina, who seemed to be invested in staring at the dusty old books in the Royal Library.
“Philip,” he replied, and 1 smiled. I had a feeling the old man is nice, and he might be of help.
Gina and I went straight to business as we walked around different shelves in the library.
Telling the librarian straight away that we were here to check the books on Celeste’s curse would be a bit suspicious. After all, Lady Lucia have a string hold over most of these servants.
“I think we should go through the books on curses and dreams. That might help us put two and two together, leading us straight to our main objective for tonight,” Gina advised.
“Smart move,” I replied.
AUTHOR’S POINT OF VIEW
“I received your letter at midnight, the one that said you wanted to see me,” Evelyn mentioned as she stared at Lady Lucia curiously.
She had been scheming against her Isabel, but she did not expect to Lady Lucia form an alliance against with her, at least not from the pack house.
“You must know me.” Lady Lucia began, as she stood up from her armchair. They were together at one of her penthouses in

the pack.
Evelyn’s eyes scanned the woman’s luxurious gown. She had only ever dreamt of wearing such, yet this woman was wearing designers so effortlessly.
“You are the late queen’s younger sister, which makes you the aunt to both princes,” Evelyn spoke up.
“Which makes me the key to what you need to become Lana, Laria declared, and Evelyn’s eyes narrowed in her direction.
“I don’t understand.” Evelyn muttered suspiciously. This might be a trap from the Alpja princes in order to ruin her
“Calm down, Evelyn. From the plotting and scheming, it is quite evident that you do not fancy your sister, Isabel, she continued, and Evelyn stared at her, calculating her every moved
“And that makes us two. I don’t want that girl for the princes. She is of no use to the Royal family and will bring nothing but ill luck to us.” Lucia added, as Evelyn batted her lashes.
I’m here to support you in any way you want until she is out of their lives like she never existed in the first place,” Lucia
declared.
“That is indeed good news to me, Lady Lucia. For years, I have thought of Isabel and the bad luck she brings to our family. Then she goes from getting rejected by six mates to actually being the Luna of the pack. Evelyn uttered in disgust.
“Soon to be Luna! And if we play our cards right, that will only be a dream that never comes to be,” Lucia interputed her, smirking.
As of now, she has them on her side. Hayden would do anything to protect her. Hector is conflicted between his dislike for her and the fact that he has to break the curse, Lucia explained calmly.
“We can take that to our advantage, Evelyn,” Lucia suggested as she sat down.
“And how is that going to benefit you? I have a motive to be Lun of this pack. What are you going to gain from this?” Evelyn asked, and Lucia smirked.
“I stand to gain a lot. Isabel seems rebellious. She’s weak without wolf, and I don’t know what to expect. But with you. I get someone on my side, especially in regard to what goes on behind the scenes in the pack house.” Lady Lucia revealed, and Evelyn narrowed her eyes in her direction.
“With you, we get a powerful Luna who can defend herself. We can kick that cursed girl out of the pack house, Evelyn. All
you
have to do is pledge your loyalty, Lucia cajoled her, and Evelyn smiled.
“What do you want me to do? I’ll do what you want. Anything to become the Luna of this pack. It has always been my dream rule beside the brothers. To gain so much power, and taking the place as the Luna of this pack would give me the power 1 need.” Evelyn declared with resentment toward her sister.
“That’s all you needed to say to make it happen. I will make sure she leaves the pack house soon enough, it’s up to you how soon you want it. Try to be close to one of them. If you can access Hector, the brothers will become divided, and one of them will have to succumb.”
“Hector it is then,” Evelyn declared, as she raised the corner of her lips.
