Chapter 15
ISABEL’S POV
“She left already, the prison warden informed, and I rubbed my forehead in frustration. Yuna had been released right before I could even pull strings together to get her out.
I felt terrible. “When did she leave? Linquired calmly.
“This morning, ma’am, she left in the morning,” he responded, and I acknowledged tiredly. I needed to talk to Yuna.
The ride to Grandma Shu’s place was a quiet one. “Isabel, how are you feeling now? I received a note from the palace assured me everything was fine. I was worried sick, Grandma Shu mentioned as I made my way into the house.
“Yuna, is she inside?” I questioned with a worried expression, and her eyes softened.

“Her parents came earlier to get her things. They were furious and made a scene outside my house,” she explained calmly, and I rubbed my face, feeling terrible about the whole situation
Yuna’s parents had never liked me from the onset. They believed I was a bad influence on their daughter and that the fact I did not have a mate would come back to bite them.
They believed the curse might rub off on their precious daughter. And now she got locked up because of me. What if Yuna listens to their words and decides to cut me off? Even the thought of it spread pain in my
heart
Trave You should calm down with whatever is running through your mind. If Yuna is your friend, she will listen to what you to tell her,” Grandma Shu remarked as she gave me a pat on the shoulder, then made her way to the kitchen to get something.
I was worried sick. Yuna was the closest person in my life right now, and I’m not about to imagine losing her friendship.
Tm leaving, Grandma
na Shul I called out as I rushed out of her house.
“Stay safe, dear,” she responded.
I was not allowed at their family house, so I made up my mind to talk to her in school the next day, I got back to the pack house to tell the princes that I would be leaving. It’s best I stay back with Grandma Shu, at least I felt safe.
Their aunt Lucia was giving me every reason to run away from them. “Isabel,” Hayden called, as he reached out his hand to
“I wanted to speak to my friend Yuna, but she left already, I explained calmly.
“That does not change the fact that you left the pack house without informing us first. As weak as you are, the least you could do is make it easy for us to protect you!” Hector snapped angrily.
“Don’t speak to her like that, Hector. There is a better way to drive to the right point. That tone was way too harsh,” Hayden defended, and I felt sick in my stomach for being in the middle of all this.
“You keep taking sides with Isabel against your own brother. How is that supposed to make me feel?” Hector burst out angrily.
“It hurts you, yet you get to speak to her however you like!” Hayden raised his voice, and before I knew it, they were at each other’s throats. The scene was so horrible I couldn’t bear it.
“Hayden! Hector! Oh my goodness!” I cried out as I rushed over to them and tried to get in the middle of it, but they were so strong, way too strong

“Help! Somebody help me! I cried out, and the soldiers rushed over to the scene.
Lucky for me, they were able to separate the fight between both brothers. Hector glared in my direction before making his way up the stairs,
“Are you okay, Isabel? Hayden inquired as he moved over to me, his voice laced with concern.
“You’re bleeding.” I stated, worried about the wound on his forehead.
“It’ll dry up in no time,” he responded calmly as he sat next to me
“You fought with your brother because of me. I don’t feel good about it, Hayden. There’s supposed to be a mutual understanding between us. I expected better from you,” I pointedout, and his eyes flashed with guilt.
“I don’t appreciate it when anyone tries to bust you with their words. You don’t deserve any of that considering what you have been through, he replied calmly.
“It doesn’t change the fact that you and Hector are blood. He loves you, and you love him too.”
“Before I came into the picture, there was the both of you, I pointed out, and he smiled.
“You have stich a big heart, Isabel,” he declared as he held my hand in his large ones, making me blush at his sweetness.
“Hector has his own desires, his wants, likes, and dislikes. He’s just disappointed at the Moon Goddess’s choice of mate for him and has refused to accept the mate bond. It’s up to us to give him time to come to terms with it, I spoke calmly, making him understand. He nodded as he tucked my hair behind my ear.
“I believe you owe your brother an apology,” I said, smiling, and he returned the smile.
“I should leave now,” he stated as he stood up and made his way upstairs. I smiled at their closeness. The last thing I want is to be the reason why that comes to an end.
My mind went back to Yuna, which made a sad feeling overwhelm me.
HAYDEN’S POV
“Hector,” I called calmly as I leaned in front of his room. He turned to me while typing away on his laptop.
“What do you want?” he snapped as his eyes moved over to me.
“I know you’re mad at me, but we need to talk,” I remarked and made my
y way into the room.
“You took sides with her already. What’s there to talk about?” he questioned, and my eyes softened in his direction.
He just has of
Hector has always been the hard guy between the two of us, but that does not make him a bad person. He handling things that’s different from mine.
“I did not take sides with Isabel. I was only doing the right thing She is our mate and deserves to be treated as such, whether or not one of us acknowledges the mate bond,” I explained calmly.
“I can’t help it, Hades. I’m always on the edge around her. She’s everything I hate in a mate, and the fact that you’ve come to terms with the whole thing pisses me off, he revealed, and I sat next to him.
“We need her help to break the curse, and it makes me dependent on her too. She’s sick because she can’t access her abilities. What if she dies when we’ve gotten so used to having her around?” he questioned.
“Like Mom?” I responded, finally coming to terms with where the whole fear was coming from.
“Yes, like Mom, he answered calmly.

“We both know how things–4urned out. She loved Dad to a fault, and how did that end?” he asked angrily.
“Isabel is not our father. She would never be,” I replied calmly.
“She wants us to be in peace. That is all she wants from us, I explained calmly, and he nodded.
“I’m sorry,” we said in unison, then laughed.
“What are you up to?” I asked, and we got busy with what he was doing on his laptop.

The next morning, Isabel joined us for breakfast. It had always been just Hector and Aunt Lucia, but now we had Isabel with
LIS.
“Good morning, she greeted, as she sat down opposite Hector.
“Good morning, Isabel, Hector responded, which made me smile. He was still stiff around her, but at least they were going somewhere. It starts with being civil with each other.
Aunt Lucia did not approve of her. It was obvious from the way she acted around Isabel. She had not said anything about it, so I did not want to insinuate she hated Isabel.
One thing was certain: we need to build her into someone who can stand up for herself. After breakfast, we together. “Don’t you have classes today?” Hector inquired, in a bid to start a conversation.
L… changed my mind, she stuttered out while trying to hide the shock on her face.
It’s okay, you can always catch up with whatever was learned in your absence,” I reassured, and she nodded.

“Tell me about your curse. Aside from breaking the curse, do you get to access your wolf?” Hector questioned, and she stared
“You refused to tell me about yours when I asked the other time she reminded, and I smiled.
“Fine, I guess we owe you an explanation just as much as you owe us one,” I acknowledged, and we all sat down.
“We found out about the curse shortly after our mom passed away… I began.

“Oh, I’m so sorry about your mom,” she murmured softly.
“It’s been years since we lost her. She was precious to us. Sadly, she loved the wrong man, Hector added, frowning.

“Huh?” she asked in confusion.
“He means we have to have sex with you, that is it,” Hector clarified, and she blushed red. The innocent reaction had us speechless.
“I know it sounds weird, but that’s it,” I added.
“It all started a long time ago when the pack still had people who practiced witchcraft and sorcery…” I began again.
“The humans with magical powers? I’ve read about them,” she interjected, suddenly interested in the conversation. “Yes, the humans with magical powers,” I confirmed.
“The king at that time was our grandfather, and he hated all forms of sorcery. He believed them to be cursed and that they would someday bring doom to the kingdom. So anytime they found someone who practiced witchcraft, they killed them
