Chapter 10
ISABEL’S POV
The rumour about me carrying Caleb’s unborn child was everywhere. Even Grandma Shu had a look of pity on her face when she made her way into the house.
“Isabel, you need to pull yourself together and get something to eat. Crying won’t solve anything at this point,” she encouraged me, and I shook my head.
“I never slept with Caleb. In fact, we never even got the opportunity to know each other better because he preferred to be with Evelyn. It was when things no longer worked in his favor that he changed his mind and tried to get me back.” I explained, my voice carrying every bit of emotion I tried to hide.
Grandma Shu placed a glass of water on the wooden table in front of me as she held my hand in hers. Her eyes softened in my direction, giving me the hope I didn’t even know I needed in my life.
“Trust me, these words they’ve said about you will fade. But your personality will remain. You need to grow tough skin, or they’ll continue to treat you like this,” she advised, a frown lingering on her face for some time.
Her doorbell rang, and she sighed softly. “Are you expecting someone?” she asked, and I shook my head. “No, I don’t think I’m expecting anyone, Grandma Shu,” I answered. She slipped on her room slippers, walked to the door, opened it, and turned toward me.
I knew it was them because their scent flooded my nostrils, and I could feel their presence everywhere. “How did you guys find me?” I asked irritably, my tone enough proof that I didn’t want them around in any way.
“We went over to your father’s house, and your sisters told us you no longer stay there. Hayden responded, as his eyes moved around the room, trying to register every single detail.
“I left,” I muttered under my breath as I folded my arms across my chest.
“You left because of your pregnancy, right?” Hector asked, and Hayden frowned in annoyance at his brother’s words..
“If you believe their words over mine, then yes, I am pregnant, I spat angrily, further irritating Hector.
“I can’t stand this girl. The more I see her face, the more angry tam. She makes me so angry!” he spat venomously.
“Trust me, your presence in my life doesn’t add anything to me, snapped, and Hayden rubbed his forehead.
“Can the both of you stop it already? We have a big problem at hand. Are you really pregnant, Isabell?” he asked calmly.
1 replied, “I’m not pregnant. One of my sisters probably started the rumor to ruin whatever they think I have with the both of you.”
“With how angry Hector is, I’m beginning to think he believes every wrong rumour about me, I said sarcastically.
“You’ve been mated to six men before us. I wouldn’t be surprised, he mocked, and my eyes stung with tears.
“It’s my body, and trust me, I get to decide what I do with it, sir, I uttered furiously.
“Is that all for today? I honestly don’t enjoy seeing your faces,” I spat, and Hector stared at me, shocked by my bold response.
“I should never have come here in the first place. Enjoy the rest of your evening,” he said as he stormed out angrily.
“Your brother left, you might as well leave, I faced Hayen, and he smiled.

our mate. I want us to get to know each other and act like mature adults,” Hayden said, like a perfect gentleman. It made my
heart flutter.
‘Care to join me for a walk?” he asked, and I stared at him, sceptical for a moment before giving a nod..
“I just inform Grandma Shu,” I said, and he nodded.
“You’re stepping out with the older brother? I see he likes you,” she teased.
“He wants us to take a walk, Grandma Shu. Stop getting your hopes up, I smiled, and she chuckled.
“Take care of yourself, dear. Let me focus on making dinner,” she replied. I made my way back to the sitting room after getting a shawl to wrap around my shoulders.
Beautiful Hayden complimented me, and a blush spread across my cheeks. As we walked around the pack hand in hand, I felt a warmth I hadn’t experienced in a long time.
“You are so beautiful, Isabel, Hayden complimented me again, and I blushed.
“This is the second time you’ve complimented me tonight, Hayden, I mumbled sofily.
“Because it’s the truth. You are indeed very beautiful,” he said gently.
“You don’t look bad yourself, I said, and our laughter spread across the field. We got to the waterfall and sat together.
“I’m sorry about the way your family treated you and how they still treat you. Trust me, you don’t deserve any of that Hayden sympathized with me. His eyes softened as he held my hand lovingly.
“It’s all my fault that I didn’t shift. Maybe I’m not strong enough or there’s just something I’m not doing right…” I stuttered. “It’s not your fault. Saying it’s your fault is like saying Hector and I deserve the curse placed on us. It took us years to find you, our antidote. But before we found you, we never stopped hoping we would,” he explained calmly
“You have to believe there’s more to you than what meets the eye, dear,” he said, and I chuckled through my tears.
“You believe in me?” I asked curiously.
“I’m rooting for you, Isabel,” he declared, and a full blown smile spread across my face.
Alpha Hayden was rooting for me.
HAYDEN’S POV
After our walk, I took her back to where she stayed with the old woman. Hector had already left, which was quite surprising because he would never leave a place without me.
“Welcome back home, Hayden, Hector greeted from the dining table, and I narrowed my eyes in his direction.
“You didn’t tell me you were leaving, Hector,” I stated calmly, and he raised his eyebrows
“I declared my intentions quite loudly. Don’t tell me you were so smitten by our mate that you didn’t hear me,” he inquired mockingly.
“Hector, Isabel should be treated with the utmost respect, I commented, and he rolled his eyes.
“Oh, please, don’t tell me she put you up to this. C’mon, that girl is just a tool to break the curse. She’s not even worth an
in our pack and thinks she can snag the two princes?

“She’s not causing any confusion. You’ve only decided to deny the mate bond, even though you feel it yourself, and that’s mean.” I said, and he groaned in frustration.
“Hayden, she doesn’t have a wolf. All we need from this girl is sex. Once the curse is broken, we can get mated to anyone else and keep her as a breeder that she is, if she even lives long enough to survive her curse,” he said, and I couldn’t believe my
cars.
“You want to use her to cure your curse, forgetting she needs to be free from her curse too?” I asked him in disbelief.
“That’s her business, not ours. We’ve lived with this curse for years. I can’t even satisfy the burning hunger to mate with random wolves because of it. Just get her to spend one night with us, and then she can do whatever she wants with her life,” he burst out frustratedly.
“Hector, that girl has gone through a lot, from her family to the treatment she’s received from others. How do she’d feel if she found out her second chance mater only need her to break a curse?”
you think
“I believe she already knows that’s what we want from her,” he replied, tucking his hands into his jeans pockets. “She never slept with any of her mates. They knew about the curse, and somehow, most of them cheated on her with her sisters. Caleb was the last one, her last hope of survival. We could wake up one morning and find her dead. I trailed off.
“Exactly my point, and we might never find a second chance mate to break the curse. Quit being her knight in shining armour. We need that charm to get what we want,” he said, and I took a deep breath.
“Fam highly disappointed in you, Hector,” I burst out angrily as made my way upstairs.
The next morning, I cornered her on her way to class. “Hayden, she called, smiling as she held her books close to her chest
“I see you’re not walking with Hector today, she teased.
“He came to class earlier,” I replied, and she smiled as she turned the other way,
“I can’t believe the whole ‘pregnant with Caleb’s child thing, died so fast. Isn’t it quite surprising to you? Or did you have a hand in it?” she asked curiously searching my eyes for an answer, and I smiled.
“It’s a rumour, and we both know rumours only trend when the person concerned gives room for it,” I said, and we both laughed.
“You have such a beautiful smile,” I commented, making her smile wilder. I’m not lying this time around, she truly have a beautiful smile.
*Has anyone ever told you that you have a sweet mouth? You use words so nicely,” she inquired.
“Because I speak the truth, Isabel,” I responded, and she smiled.
“How about you hang out with Hector and me over lunch?” I asked, and she seemed a bit skeptical about my question. “I promise you won’t regret it. No one will try to bite you, I teased her, and she burst out laughing.
“That’s a yes I guess,” I stated, and she smiled.
“I’ll see you then,” she said as she walked away from me.
Fine, Hayden,” she muttered under her breath and hurried towards the lecture room. I smiled at her retreating figure, I will try my best to make sure there is mutual understanding between all of us.
Hector had to come around, because that’s the only way we can get her to be comfortable with us, she is the Luna and must be coronated after the curse is broken.
