Chapter 1
ISABEL’S POV
I stood outside my sister’s bedroom door, feeling a mix of anger and sadness. I could hear moans coming from inside, and it made
my stomach turn.
“Oh, Caleb!” Evelyn moaned out in pleasure from behind those doors, my heart sank
“I’m cumming, Caleb,” she moaned, and I felt a rush of anger, pain, betrayal and hurt. Caleb was my sixth mate, and here he was, with my sister. This was the sixth time this had happened to me. Every mate I found ended up with one of my sisters, like some joke.
No one in the pack wanted me as a mate because they knew I was cursed. But why did my own family have to hurt me like this? I had two sisters, Evelyn and Amelia. They were both beautiful and strong, but I wasn’t. They knew I would die if I didn’t find a mate before my 18th birthday, but they still took every mate I found and laughed when they rejected me.
Suddenly, the door opened, and Caleb walked out. He didn’t look surprised to see me standing there. He just stared at me with a cold expression on his face, and I felt a sharp pain in my chest.
“I never planned to accept you.” He said, looking at me with disgust.
“You’re cursed by the moon goddess. Maybe she hates you and doesn’t want you to have a mate. His words stung, and I fought back tears. I didn’t want to cry in front of him.

Evelyn walked out of the room and slapped me across the face. The slap hurt, but what hurt more was because it was my sister who did it
“How dare you try to seduce him like that! What do you think? That someone like Caleb would want to be with you!” Evelyn sneered, glaring at me.

“What do you think? That a man like Caleb would want to be with someone like you? Stop dreaming. It doesn’t suit you,” she mocked, her words cunting deep..
I tried to ignore their hurtful words, but it wasn’t easy to pretend that those words didn’t hurt me. Each word they said felt like a thousand little cuts in my heart, each word that came out of their mouth stinging more than the last. What hurt the most was that it was coming from my own sister, my family.
“Mom! Dad!” she suddenly called out, heading towards the living room. I knew what was coming. My sisters always hurt me and then played the victim. Caleb stood there, looking smugly and uncaring
“There she is, Mom,” Evelyn said, pointing at me.
“I have done nothing wrong, Evelyn. You slept with my mate, and you’re not even sorry about it,” I said, trying to keep my voice calm.
“You still have the guts to talk about a mate after everything you’ve done? We can’t even hold our heads high in the pack because of you?” my dad shouted, his voice full of anger.

Istood there, not saying anything. I knew they were ashamed ofme. It all started when I didn’t shift into my my 16th birthday. It was supposed to be a special night, but I stayed human when all my mates were shifted to their human form. My parents and I visited the seer and the seer said I was cursed, and if I don’t find my mate to mark me before my 18th birthday. I will die.

Chapter 1
My parents had been so disappointed, and since then, the pack created me like a plague. They called me unlucky and weak. Every mate who rejected me felt like another punch to my gut.
Even though I want to accept my fate that I am cursed, I also want to enjoy the good things life has in stock for me. I have cried and prayed to the moon goddess to bestow upon me a mate that will stay and won’t go around, frolicking with my sister, but it seems I’m truly caused and I haven’t found favour is the sight of the moon goddess.
“You must apologise to your sister,” my mom declared, comforting Evelyn.
“She slept with my mate, Mom. Why should I apologise?” I asked as I tried not to break down in everyone’s presence, I felt a lump in my throat.
“Evelyn would never do something that cruel. Caleb must have shown interest in her. Face the fact that you are cursed and stop hoping for a better life,” my mom snapped.
I knew they wouldn’t listen to me. They never did. I looked at Caleb, who was holding Evelyn. He didn’t care at all.

“I, Isabel Brown, accept your rejection, Caleb Cooper.” I replied, turning and leaving the room. “They don’t worth my tears, I muttered to myself.
This wasn’t the first time this had happened. Caleb was my sixth mate, and it hurt every time my mate rejected me, the pains that come with one mate rejecting the other is so unbearable. My heart hurt so bad, the piercing pain in my chest didn’t help matters. I thought I was close to breaking my curse, but it seemed the moon goddess had other plans.
‘If I wasn’t meant to live, then so be it. I am not going to fight the curse anymore, I murmured to myself.
The next morning, I woke up early to get ready for school. I knew the news of Caleb’s rejection would be everywhere, wasn’t going to let it break me. I took a deep breath and got ready, determined to face the day.

As I walked through the school hallways, I heard whispers and saw people staring at me. I tried to ignore it, but it wasn’t possible, I saw my sisters laughing and flirting with some guys. It made me feel sick. They acted like nothing was wrong.
“They are so handsome, I can’t believe we get to see them so close!” I heard someone say. Curious, I looked over and saw my sisters talking to two good looking guys. I quickly looked away, not wanting to get involved.
Evelyn and Amelia were laughing loudly, and I felt embarrassed by their behaviour. A mix of emotions bubbled up inside me fear, hope and confusion. “These feelings are familiar, I thought. How could I feel this when I had just been rejected by my sixth mate?

The other guy looked at me too. He had the same brown hair as the other guy, perfect cheekbone, full lips, and his grey eyes were warm and welcoming. His lean, athletic build and friendly smile made him seem more relaxed and easygoing.
I tried to move, but I couldn’t. They walked towards me, and I felt like I was stuck on that spot.
“We can hang out during lunch together at the school cafeteria, Evelyn suggested to them, sounding excited. I felt like cringing at her flirty behaviour. Evelyn was always chasing after good looking guys, even though she had just ruined my
chance with Caleb.
