Stacy’s heart clenched with frustration. She didn’t want to see Aurora’s face any longer, so she turned away, helping Maura inside without looking back. She thought, “You sharp–tongued brat, F’ll let you have your moment of triumph this time. Once Maura recovers, I’ll settle the score with you
As the sun rose and soft morning music played, the asphalt road outside Mereida High School was lined with cars of various makes and models. Students with backpacks flowed toward the entrance in an endless stream.
Alison had just stepped out of her car near the school gate when she spotted Aurora walking ahead. Afraid Aurora might run away, she shouted, “Aurora, stop right there”
Aurora turned briefly at the sound of her name, saw that it was Alison, and then resumed walking toward Class F.
“Aurora, are you deaf? I told you to stop Too anxious to grab her bag, Alison sprinted up to Aurora, not hesitating for a second before swinging her hand towards Aurora’s face.
It was peak school hours, and with many students passing by, the sudden commotion quickly drew a crowd. Amused smirks spread across their faces as they paused to watch the drama unfold. Some even pulled out their phones, snapping photos and recording videos to share in the school chat groups.
Aurora’s eyes darkened. She swiftly caught Alison’s hand and flung it aside forcefully. Her voice was cold as she snapped, “Are you a mad dog? Biting at people on the streets?” She thought I’ve been so preoccupied with Sunrise Pharmaceuticals deal lately that I almost forgot Alison existed. Since she’s come looking for trouble, I won’t let her off so easily.
Alison pointed a finger at Aurora and yelled, “Aurora, answer me Why hasn’t Maura been coming to school lately? What did you do to her?”
Last night, during a video call with Maura, Alison was shocked to see how much weight Maura had lost. She had never seen her friend look so worn down, so fragile that it seemed a gust of wind could knock her over. After much coaxing and pleading. Maura had finally revealed the “truth“,
Seeing Aurora striding along this morning and thinking of the wounds on Maura’s body made Alison’s blood boil.
Alison didn’t care about the crowd and immediately shouted, “Aurora, you vile woman. You were in that car accident with Maura, yet instead of saving her, you actually shoved her out of the way when the car came crashing down. You used Maura as a human shield. She was covered in blood, cut up by broken ghss, and you–are you even human?”
At these words, the onlookers turned their gazes toward Aurora.
One of them said, “I was wondering why Maura hadn’t shown up for days. It turns out she had a car accident.” Another said, “How disgusting that Aurora used Maura as a shield. There really are such selfish people in the world
One added, “Wow, just when I thought I’d seen it all.”
Aurora remained eerily calm as the crowd’s judgmental stares and murmurs intensified. She met Alison’s fiery eyes and responded coolly, ‘Did your family forget to lock your cage?” She had just called Alison a dog.
“Bitch, I’ll kill you.” Aware of the insult, Alison lunged forward to hit Aurora again.
Aurora grabbed Alison’s chin. Her fingers dug into Alison’s cheeks as she forced Alison to look up. Malice gleamed in Aurora’s eyes. “Look at yourself now. Don’t you look just like a mad dog?”
“Aurora..” Alison spat Aurora’s name through clenched teeth, her eyes blazing red, as though blood would drip from them. She struggled desperately, but Aurora’s grip was iron–clad

Damion stood before Aurora, his tall frame casting a long shadow His handsome face looked angry as he snapped at her, “Isn’t it enough that you harmed Maura? Do you have to hurt Allon in front of everyone, too?”
Aurora thought, “Seriously? Anyone with eyes could see that Alison threw the first punch, yet somehow, this has turned into me being the aggressor? It’s unbelievable how twisted their narrative has become. Years of being around Maura seem to have sharpened their talent for reversing the truth
Aurora rolled her eyes. She didn’t bother holding back her sarcasm. “What? Are you blind? Didn’t you see Alison attack me
first?”
Her defiance only made Damon’s contempt deepen. “So what if he hit you first? You could’ve just stepped aside. But no, you had to retaliate. You’re relentless. Your behavior is disgraceful.”
Being the school heartthrob, Damon always attracted a crowd of girls wherever he went. His words stirred their minds, prompting the usual brainless followers to chime in.
One said, “Yeah, who’d use their own sister as a human shield? She’s got to be vile and cruel.”
Another said, “Let’s keep our distance from her. Who knows who she’ll throw under the bus next time?
One girl said, “How is someone like her still allowed in school? She’s terrifying.”
Emboldened by the crowd, a girl threw an empty water bottle at Aurora to show their anger.
Aurora tilted her head to dodge it, then shot the girl a sharp glare that sent a chill down her spine. Instantly cowed, the gicl lowered her gaze, embarrassed.

Aurora turned back to look at Alison and sneered, “I wasn’t even in the same car as Maura. How exactly shield?”
Aurora knew Jaxon had spread her version of events to protect his reputation, so she played along. “That night, I never went home. Maura’s accident had nothing to do with me.”
“Oh, so we should just believe you then?” Alison glared, hands on her hips, clearly gearing up for another bout of nonsensical
accusations.
Aurora shrugged, her tone dripping with indifference. “If you see it that way, what can I do?”
Alison, having lost to Aurora time and time again, was furious. “Don’t get too cocky, Aurora. Today’s the exams. In three days, you’ll be kicked out of Mereida for good. Enjoy your last moments while you can.”
Their exams were spread over two days, with teachers staying late in the office to grade everything. The results would be posted within two days at the latest.
imagined Aurora being thrown out of the school like a disgraced stray dog. She Alison’s eyes gleamed with malice as she thought, ‘It’s a pity Maura is recovering at home and can’t see this in person. No, I must take a video then to cheer her up.
“I’ll be waiting.” Aurora replied with a smirk before turning away from the school gates.
The crowd, now deprived of any more drama, dispersed quickly
Soon after, the school bell rang. But today was different. Everyone’s seats had been reshuffled for the exams. There were six classes in the senior year, and all the students were assigned to other places.
Alison immediately spotted Aurora sitting in the third row when she entered the classroom. Her mood darkened instantly, and she muttered a curse under her breath.

She took her seat, fiddling with her stationery as she started making snide comments. “What kind of arrangement is this? You better watch your answer sheets, or some shameless person night copy off you. It’ll be too late to cry about it later.” Reclining in her chair, Aurora shot back effortlessly. “Honestly, think this school puts too much emphasis on grades. It’s ridiculo
