Chapter 51
Who would have thought that the production department manager would go and sell off the high–quality raw materials only to purchase damp, moldy ones for production? Of course, the money from reselling the materials went straight into his own. pocket
When Daxon got back, he explained everything to the relevant people at Whitaker Medical Center.
Dexter already knew about this. Right there, on his computer, he replied to an email, instructing the warehouse staff to gather all the substandard drugs recently sent by Sunrise Pharmaceuticals into one pile so someone could come and haul them away later.
Dexter asked, “By the way, wasn’t that production department mager named Giles? How did you deal with him?”
Just mentioning this made him a bit angry. Fortunately, they had a quality control system in place for incoming drugs, or else if those bad batches had made it to the market and patients had taken them, it would have caused a huge problem. He figured someone so blinded by greed, with no regard for human life, deserved nothing less than death.
Daxon stood up, took out his phone, and sent the order to destroy the drugs. Only then did he reply. “By the time I got there, the general manager had already handled it. Giles was stripped of all his duties and will never be hired again.”
After that, he heard from Aurora about Annie’s situation. With the issue at Sunrise Pharmaceuticals settled, care of the other matter.
he left to take
Hearing this, Dexter wasn’t too satisfied. “For something this serious, he wasn’t held legally accountable” He couldn’t help but wonder when Daxon had become so soft–hearted.
Daxon replied nonchalantly, “Jail isn’t the only way to teach someone a lesson.”
No matter in which industry, as soon as a scandal broke, those who needed to know would hear it immediately.
Giles was pushing forty, having spent over a decade studying medicine and working in the pharmaceutical industry for seven or eight years. But with one greedy move, pretending to be something he wasn’t, he almost caused irreversible damage.
No matter how talented he was, no pharmaceutical company would dare hire him after that. His career in the industry was pretty much over.
After spending half his life in this field, now that the top–paying companies wouldn’t touch him, he’d have no choice but to change professions to support his family. But mastering a new field from scratch? That wouldn’t be easy at all.
Dexter thought about that, too, and the smug grin on his face was no longer hidden. He didn’t say anything more, basically agreeing with how Daxon had handled it.
“It’s my mistake.” Daxon didn’t shirk responsibility. He pulled ou his phone and showed Dexter a logistics page. “This is the same medicine I had shipped from Kellynobia. It should arrive tonight. When it does, just inform the warehouse.”
Dexter’s face lit up with joy. “You really are a lifesaver.
There had been an issue with the medicine delivered by Sunrise Pharmaceuticals, and the hospital couldn’t afford to run out of supplies. Dexter had been worrying about where to buy more, but Daxon came through for him.
“Is this kind of last–minute purchase more expensive than usual Tell me how much the difference is, and I’ll cover it,” Dexter said as he pulled out his phone.
Daxon gently blocked Dexter’s hand and replied calmly, “This is on me. Compared to the breach penalty, I’m still ahead” Sunrise Pharmaceuticals had a contract with Whitaker Medical Center, and given the large amount involved, the breach

penalty would’ve been astronomical. The fact that Whitaker Medical Center didn’t even bring it up showed they were already doing the Harrison family a big favor.

It was another weekend, and Aurora had made plans with Margaret to visit Irene at Mereida Private Hospital.
From a distance, Margaret waved enthusiastically at Aurora “Rody”
Aurora was holding a bouquet of sunflowers in her left hand and fruit basket in her right.
Tve never seen a baby before, Rory. I heard it’s a boy. What do you think he looks like? Margaret hopped around beside Aurora, chattering non–stop the entire way
Margaret had told her dad about the visit, and he had praised her, calling her a good girl, and even gifted her a yacht. She planned to invite Aurora to take a ride on it.
Aurora smiled and chatted with her. “We’ll find out soon enough when we see him. As they were talking, they reached the ward, and a man opened the door. It was Giles.
When he saw the two young women at the door, fitting the age range his wife had told him about, he said, “Ms. Crawford, Ms. McLean, come on in.”
Irene, lying in the hospital bed, lit up at the sight of the sunflowers. “Ms. Crawford, Ms. McLean, you guys didn’t need to bring anything. You’re far too kind.”
Giles took the flowers from Aurora’s hands and placed them in a vase.
While he arranged the flowers, Aurora took a good look at him. In her previous life, she had seen photos of him online. She stared for a moment before confirming he was the same Giles who had indirectly brought down Sunrise Pharmaceuticals.
Meanwhile, Margaret had immediately rushed over to Irene’s side, excitedly asking to see the baby, which conveniently gave Aurora and Giles a chance to talk.
“Ms. Crawford, thank you so much.” He picked up the pitcher and poured Aurora a glass of water, then sat awkwardly on the couch, nervously rubbing his hands on his thighs.
She accepted the water from Giles and replied, “In a situation like Mrs. Hansen’s, anyone who came across it would’ve helped. I just happened to be there by chance.” She wasn’t wrong. Anyone who saw a pregnant woman lying on the ground. crying in pain, would’ve taken her to the hospital.
In the previous life, Irene had died with her unborn child because she collapsed in a secluded area. By the time someone found her, it was too late to save her. The tragedy that followed was the result of delayed medical attention.
When Aurora thought back to where the three of them had been that day, it made sense that no one was around to help when Irene fell.
As Giles spoke about it, a flash of anger appeared on his usually kind face. He grumbled, “Those property managers were just too much. Back when I lived there, if something broke or the toilet got clogged, I always fixed it myself so I wouldn’t bother them. Who would’ve thought they’d…”
He mused. In the past, they’d always greet me. But the moment fell from grace, they acted like they didn’t even know me. They didn’t even help my pregnant wife move things. It’s really true what they say–the world’s a cold place, and people only care when you’re useful.
Aurora lowered her gaze and took a sip of water to moisten her throat. She’d always known people were selfish, and she no longer expected much from anyone.
Just then, Irene, who had been playing with the baby along with Margaret, chimed in, “Honey, don’t talk about them like

Irene had started packing as soon as she got the call from Sunrise Pharmaceuticals, but little did she know they had already contacted the property management office and told them not to help her. In the end, one of the staff members couldn’t stand it and gave her a cart to use,
Talking about this made her upset as well. She sighed and slapped her thigh, cursing, “Sunrise Pharmaceuticals really took things too far! They’re heartless! To be honest, the property management office wanted to use the cart to help me move, but I refused. I thought I could handle it on my own, but halfway through…
She trailed off, feeling a deep sense of relief that things hadn’t gone worse.
Upon hearing that, Aurora raised an eyebrow. Since the conversation had turned to Sunrise Pharmaceuticals, she figured it was the perfect time to ask. “Giles, what are your plans going forward?”
