As soon as Stacy got out from the other side of the car, she was startled to see Aurora standing there by the roadside, perfectly fine, schoolbag slung over her shoulder. She thought, “What the hell is Rocco doing? Maura’s already been discharged from the hospital, and this still isn’t sorted out! Seeing Aurora, Maura’ll definitely be pissed”
“Hey, Aurora, just got out of school?” Maura forced a smile as she watched the McLeans car drive off. She walked up to Aurora and said, “Why’d you take a ride with the McLeans? That’s really too much trouble for them”
With no outsiders around. Aurora couldn’t be bothered to keep playing the charade with Maura. She threw her backpack over her shoulder and turned on her heel, not even glancing at Maura

Aurora had Stacy’s arm twisted behind her back, her thumb pressing with just enough force to make Stacy yelp in pain.
Hearing her mother’s scream, Maura immediately said, “Aurora, what are you doing? Mom was just looking out for you. You just got back from the countryside, and you don’t understand the etiquette of high society–you’ll make a fool of yourself…”
Maura froze in her tracks.

As Aurora entered, her presence was like a blade freshly sharpened, threatening to hurt anyone who got too close. Emma thought, “Stacy is Mr. Crawford’s wife, after all, and disrespecting her like that in front of so many people was almost like slapping Mr. Crawford in the face too. If he finds out, and Stacy adds fuel to the line, Aurora’s relationship with Mr. Crawford will only get worse.”

Aurora stepped onto the matte–tiled staircase, her eyes gleaming with indifference, and she gave Emma a faint smile. “I’m Dad’s birth daughter. Do you think he’ll listen to some outsiders?”
Emma sighed deeply, her face clouded with worry, “Ms. Aurora, do you really believe that?”
Even as a maid. Emma could see it clearly. ‘Mr. Crawford’s heart is all with Stacy and her two kids. Surely, Ms. Aurora has noticed that by now. After everything that’s happened, even the most oblivious person would’ve figured it out.
Aurora’s words contradicted her true feelings, and her voice was barely more than a whisper. “Does it matter if I believe it or not?”
Back in her room, Aurora shut the door before collapsing onto the bed, and she was lost in thoughts, Were I too impulsive just now? I don’t think so. Stacy has already teamed up with Rocco to screw me over, and all I did was throw a few words back at her.

This room at the far end of the second floor was bathed in the afternoon sun. They all didn’t like it and rarely came by. Even Maura, who used to poke around looking for trouble, had stopped showing up after Aurora told her off a few times. It made it easier for Aurora to fix the place up just the way she wanted it.
Up on the third floor, Stacy was on the phone with Rocco, “Rocco, what the hell’s going on? I told you to handle things, yet that brat is around just fine?”

She slumped onto her vanity stool, her head pounding as the events from earlier replayed in her mind. ‘How dare the little bitch run her mouth like that? It’s ridiculous. This time, I’ll make sure her reputation is trashed for good, to the paint where she’d never be able to lift her head again, she thought
Her lips curled into a sinister smile as she spoke into the phone, her voice sweet but dripping with malice. “Didn’t you already arrange for someone to deal with Aurora?
