Still shaken, she exclaimed, “Daxon, you should call Aurora and tell her not to come pick us up.” She thought, With such fierce sun, Aurora will surely get heatstroke.

Even Daxon, usually calm and composed, couldn’t help but frown when he looked at the blazing sunshine. He knew Mereida had a reputation for scorching summers, but he hadn’t expected it to be this unforgiving

Daxon dialed Aurora’s number as Annie had suggested. But to his surprise, Aurora told him she was already outside and insisted on picking them up..

Aurora had heard Annie’s voice over her phone call with Daxon plenty of times before, and she knew the young girl was eager to meet her. Just last night, Annie had even called to tell her when their flight would land. And now, knowing how hot it was, Annie had Daxon call to stop her from coming.

“Just pick a mall, and I’ll come find you, Aurora said before hanging up and hailing a taxi.

Meanwhile, Annie followed behind Daxon into the mall. Despite mentally preparing herself, the heat that hit her when she opened the car door made her break out in sweat again.

By the time Aurora entered the mall, Annie was sitting on a bench, eating ice cream, her face back to its usual color

“The Aurora you’ve been talking about is here,” Daxon’s pleasant voice suddenly said by her ear.

Annie froze for a moment and instinctively looked up towards the crowd. Though the mall was packed with people, her eye were drawn to a tall, radiant woman with smooth skin. She couldn’t look away.

“Huh,” Annie gasped softly in surprise. She had expected Merrida’s sweltering heat to have taken a toll on Aurora’s skin, but instead, Aurora looked flawless.

Aurora made her way through the crowd and stopped in front of the trio. “Sorry to keep you waiting. Dazon.” She had spotted them from afar. Daxon certainly lived up to his reputation as the head of the Harrison family. His commanding presence drew glances from passersby, though none dared to approach him.

“You must be Annie, Aurora said, extending her right hand with a warm smile. “Hi, I’m Aurora. I’m two years older than you. If you don’t mind, you can just call me by my name.”
