Chapter 80
Frank frowned, stepping forward to offer a fair perspective. “Mr Andrews, from what Margaret just said, it seems your daughter was spreading rumors and deliberately slandering Aurora. While Aurora’s physical response wasn’t ideal, it was provoked. Do we really need to make such a big deal out of this?”
Aurora was a good student, with the SAT just around the corner if she hadn’t been affected by this incident and had performed well on the test, it would have boosted Mercida High School’s international enrollment rates. Frank was reluctant to escalate the situation unless absolutely necessary.
Nancy crossed her legs and spoke with an air of superiority. “Mr Gill, that’s rather unreasonable. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. If Aurora had conducted herself properly in the first place, others wouldn’t have misunderstood her actions.”
As soon as Nancy finished speaking, Jenny’s mother, Courtney Butler, chimed in, “Exactly! It takes two to tango. My daughter is well–mannered and educated. Why would she single out Aurora if there wasn’t a problem? Clearly, the issue lies with Aurora herself.
*Still in denial, even now. Some people really won’t face reality until they hit rock bottom, Aurora snorted to herself and shot back with icy sarcasm. “Ma’am, why are you wearing a cocktail dress to school? And with bare legs, no less. Trying to seduce someone?
I’ve heard you love these dresses. Is it to show off your figure to men? Did you land all your business deals by sleeping around?”
Nangy trembled with rage, her face flushing red. She stormed over to Aurora in her high heels, hand raised to strike. little bitch! I’ll teach you to watch your mouth!”

Aurora caught her wrist, a mocking smile playing on her lips. She repeated. “Why am I only talking about you? Got something to hide? There are so many clothes to choose from, yet you picked a dress. Still claim you’re not trying to attract attention?” She shoved Nancy’s hand away forcefully.
Nancy stumbled backward in her heels, her lower back slamming against the teacher’s desk. A paper cup tipped over. soaking one corner of the photos. Water trickled down the desk’s edge.
“You!” Nancy rubbed her back, glaring at Aurora with a look that could kill.
Erik opened his mouth to speak, but his older brother, Edward, held him back, shaking his head and suggesting they should wait and see how this played out.
Their family had business ties with the Andrews family. If Aurora couldn’t handle this herself, Erik could step in later. It would be a way to thank her for tutoring him.
“Section 216 of the Criminal Code states that publicly insulting others through violence or other means, or fabricating facts to defame others, if the circumstances are serious, shall be punished by imprisonment of up to three years, criminal detention, public surveillance or deprivation of political rights. Aurora recited.
“What does that mean?” Nancy asked, confused by the sudden legal jargon.
Aurora let out a derisive laugh. She tossed some photos onto the desk, pointing at them. These are all the evidence of Alison’s false accusations against me. This isn’t about demerits or expulsion anymore. I’m pressing criminal charges”
Courtney peeked out, her face darkening at the unsightly scene. She weighed her options carefully.
“You know, spreading fake news online can actually land you in hot water if it gets shared 500 times, Aurora smiled. “It’s understandable if older folks can’t tell it’s edited. I’m confident the police will clear my name.”
At the hotel earlier, Aurora had already uncovered the identity of the original poster – it was Alison’s alternate account.
Chapter 80
Hearing this, Alison bither–lip, a sense of foreboding washing over her. This wasn’t her first time pulling such a stunt. Previous victims had been too busy putting out fires to connect the dots back to her. Even if they had suspicions, they thought confrontation unwise.
She’d used similar tactics to kick out a few girls before, but overconfidence from past success had made her less careful this time. How can Aurora just whip that out? She seethed. Doesn’t she have any shame?TM
Mother knew daughter best. Nancy could tell what was going on just by looking at Alison’s unnatural expression. She tapped Alison’s forehead, scolding gently. “You never cease to give me headaches.”
She was thinking that Alison should have just paid someone else to do it
Aurora tapped her chin lightly, her gaze sweeping across the varied expressions on everyone’s faces. She pointed at Alison and her friends. “You’re the ringleaders. I won’t let any of you off the hook”
Courtney’s face changed instantly. Unlike the Andrews family, they didn’t have much influence. She couldn’t let her daughter get caught up in legal trouble.
With this in mind, she grabbed Jenny’s shirt and dragged her in front of Aurora. “Aurora, Jenny’s still young and naive. You’ve already taught her a lesson. How about we let her apologize and put this behind us?”
On the other side, Daisy’s mom chimed in with a forced smile, That’s right, Aurora. It’s all our kids‘ fault. You’ve already scolded them. I’ll make her apologize right away!”
Daisy’s mom shared Courtney’s thinking. Their families weren’t well–off, and with evidence against them, they couldn’t afford a crime of slander and insulting.
Jenny and Daisy’s faces burned with shame. They weren’t stupid. They knew a case file would follow them for life. Their minds went blank, focused only on stopping Aurora from calling the police.
Unable to think of a solution, they turned to Alison with tear-filled eyes, silently begging for help. After all, they’d only targeted Aurora on Alison’s orders.
Alison was about to speak, but Nancy pinched her discreetly, cutting her off.
Jaxon’s assistant, sensing trouble and seeing Aurora’s determination to hold them accountable, realized this was beyond his ability to handle. He quietly pulled out his phone and sent Jaxon a message.
“What are you waiting for? Apologize now!” Jenny’s mom urged
Jenny balked at the idea. If she apologized now, she could never show her face in public again.
Courtney read the stubborn set of Jenny’s jaw and knew exactly what she was thinking. Without hesitation, she smacked Jenny’s back and ordered, “Apologize. Now
Jenny’s eyes welled up with tears, her throat tight. Courtney’s inconsistent behavior was starting to breed resentment in her.. Why did Alison’s mom stand up for her, while my mother forced me to apologize?‘ She wished Nancy was hers instead. Little did Jenny know that later, after seeing what became of Alison, she’d be grateful for her own mother’s actions.
She approached Aurora, her voice choked with emotion, and bowed her head deeply. I’m sorry.” Daisy, standing nearby, hadn’t escaped this ordeal either.
Auror raised an eyebrow, her response catching everyone off guard. “I don’t accept your apology.”
The moment flushed faces snapped up to look at her. “You!”
