“Go to Lorraine Summer Resort,” Aurora said to the driver while sitting in the back seat with her luggage.
The summer in Mercida was unbearably hot. Yesterday, Annie just walked for a short while, and she couldn’t take it anymore. But she didn’t want to leave Aurora to go back to Jydrica, so Daxon took her to play at Lorraine Summer Resort,
They planned to stay for four or five days, so Aurora packed a small suitcase. An hour and a half later, she arrived at Lorraine Summer Resort.
The sun illuminated everything around, making it blindingly bright.
Annie had been lying on a lounge chair in the shade, eating ice cream. When she saw Aurora, she ran over and put an ice cream in Aurora’s hand, exclaiming, “Aurora, you finally made it Rose has been here for quite some time, and as soon as she arrived, she started pestering Daxon. It’s so annoying!”
As soon as Annie heard that Rose was coming last night, she immediately called Aurora. Not only did Rose cling to Daxon, but she even found excuses to send Annie away. Annie was sure Aurora would have a way to thwart Rose’s plans.
Saying this, Annie pulled Aurora toward the lake, thinking, ‘Aurora will definitely be able to get rid of Rose! Even though Annie just met Aurora for the first time yesterday, she felt that if Aurora wanted to do something, she would surely succeed.
Perhaps it was because Aurora always appeared so confident, which was precisely what Annie lacked.
Aurora felt helpless. She hadn’t made herself clear on the phone yesterday but now was her chance. “Annie, wait! I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
Aurora thought, ‘Rose is bothering Daxon, and Annie wants me to pretend to be Daxon’s girlfriend to drive Rose away. Isn’t that just following Rose’s lead? That completely goes against my principles.
Seeing Aurora’s troubled expression, Annie became a little anxious. Perhaps feeling more familiar with Aurora, she spoke more boldly. “But you promised me yesterday.” She thought, ‘How can Aurora go back on her word? That would make me upset for nothing‘
Aurora placed her hands on Annie’s shoulders, bent down to look at her earnestly, and said seriously, “Annie, you told me yesterday that Rose was using her job to haunt Daxon. I can pretend once or twice, but I can’t pretend to be his girlfriend forever. If I get found out, wouldn’t that ruin Daxon and Rose’s collaboration?”
Establishing a cooperative relationship was not easy, and once it was broken, it could lead to animosity. The upper–class circle was that small, and they often met at parties. It would be terrible if relations soured.
Annie also thought of this point and lowered her head dejectedly. “But I just don’t want her to bother Daxon.”
Rose had returned from studying abroad, and it was said that she was a high–level talent in pharmaceutical research and even had her own research institute.
Since meeting Daxon at a party, Rose had been trying to get him to invest in her institute, and for that, she had staged several encounters with him.
Originally, this had nothing to do with Annie, but one time, she saw Rose pinching a baby in a stroller hard enough to make the baby cry loudly.
At that moment, Rose noticed Annie. The look Rose gave Annie was indescribable, leaving Annie terrified and causing her to have nightmares for two nights.
After that incident, Annie didn’t want Rose surrounding Daxon anymore. She felt that Rose had ulterior motives.
Aurora, unaware of the details, reached out to pat Annie on the head and comforted her. “Don’t worry. Daxon will always be

Aurora knew that Daxon had brought Annie back from Kellynol Annie had been following him around for these days. Aurora thought Annie had some kind of attachment issue, fearing that Daxon would stop loving her if he found someone special.
After a moment’s thought, Aurora added, “You could ask Daxon what he thinks about Rose. Maybe he doesn’t feel anything for her at all?”
In her previous life, Aurora lived until she was twenty–six and often heard news about Daxon, but she never heard a word about his partner. So, he must have remained single all along.
If that were the case, it was very likely that Rose wouldn’t become Daxon’s wife.
After hearing Aurora’s advice, Annie felt a little better, but she still looked gloomy and mumbled shyly, “I just don’t like her. If she becomes Daxon’s wife, I would definitely not agree!”
Annie was still unwilling to give up and pitifully tugged at Aurora’s sleeve. “Aurora, can’t you pretend to be Daxon’s girlfriend and drive Rose away?”
If she had a choice, Annie wanted Aurora to be Daxon’s wife.
Rose looked down on Annie, always viewing her with a condescending attitude as if she were some bottom–tier trash. However, when Daxon was around, Rose wouldn’t show her disdain openly but expressed it through various behaviors.
Although Annie didn’t suffer any direct harm, it still bothered her.
Aurora was shocked by the unease in Annie’s eyes. That version of Annie resembled the Aurora from her past life, and in the end, Aurora couldn’t bear it, saying, “Alright, I’ll consider it.”
Upon hearing this, Annie clearly felt a bit happier.
“What are you doing here alone? Where’s Daxon?” Aurora asked.
As soon as this topic came up, Annie’s mood darkened immediately. “Daxon is talking to Rose. I couldn’t understand them, so I came out.”
The two of them walked along a small path to a lake surrounded by tall trees on three sides, where water lilies were abundantly planted.
A gentle breeze swept across the lake, causing the budding lotus flowers to sway slightly, accompanied by the rustling sound of leaves and the refreshing fragrance of the lotuses.
Aurora was amazed to find a unique tranquility in nature here. She realized she had been in the area for some time, and the noise that had been everywhere seemed to have vanished. She thought, ‘No wonder this is a designated summer resort.
“Aurora, Daxon is right there!” Annie said.
Following the direction of Annie’s finger, Aurora saw a highly modern building.
Right in front of them were two large floor–to–ceiling windows through which Daxon sat inside, speaking to a striking woman with fiery red lips and wavy hair.
Rose slouched on the side sofa, propping her elbow on the armrest and striking a seductive pose.
“Mr. Harrison, didn’t you say you were optimistic about my research? Why are you still holding back my investment?” Rose’s voice was melodic, her eyes sparkling, and her every move was imbued with charm.
Daxon, sitting opposite her, remained unfazed, showing no signs of being affected. “The planning department is verifying.

Once it’s done, the funds will be transferred to you.”
Rose’s research met Daxon’s investment criteria, but the specific situation of her institute still needed further investigation.
Daxon’s team had a clear division of labor, and whether an investment would yield profit involved everyone’s year–end bonuses, so they had to be cautious.
Hearing this, Rose looked somewhat displeased and made it evident.
