Chapter 30
Austin was somewhat happy, despite being punched. Even though he was in pain, seeing that Courtney still cared about him made him forget the discomfort
“Courtney, you still care about me, don’t you? That man clearly is bad news,” he said. “Don’t have anything to do with him. If he bothers you, I’ll call the police.”
Courtney pointed toward the stairs, signaling for Austin to leave.
Austin stepped forward, attempting to hug Courtney, but she pushed him away with force.
Courtney’s gaze was firm as she pointed at the stairs again.
Austin hesitated, not daring to move closer. “Courtney I often dream of you. I believe you’ll come back. And now, you’re really here.
Courtney’s gaze flickered, and tears gathered in her eyes
“Courtney… I wish this was all just a nightmare. When I wake up, we’ll still be there for each other, just like before. Austin whispered.
Courtney’s fingers trembled. She wished this was a dream too–an awful nightmare that would end when she woke up.
She longed for the day when she could wake up, and her parents would still be there. Austin would still be the same Austin.
“Courtney… let’s go back to how we were, okay?” Austin stepped closer, slowly pulling Courtney into his arms, holding her tighter. “Courtney really, truly love you”
“We…” Before Austin could continue, Courtney pushed him away with all her strength
Her emotions were spiraling out of control. She pointed toward the stairs, glaring at Austin in anger. She wanted him to leave and never showi again.

Austin, anxious, tried to calm Courtney, but seeing how upset she was, he could only slowly bark away. “Courtney, don’t be upset. I’ll go. I’ll leave now, and when you’ve calmed down, I’ll come back to talk to you.”
Austin’s eyes were also red as he turned to walk away, but then he looked back at Courtney “Courtney… I’m sorry”
He said he was sorry. But he had done so many things to hurt Courtney–one apology couldn’t fix it.

Courtney stood at the door, motionless for a long time.
She felt as though she had fallen back into the abyss, trapped in a nightmare, suffocating in pain.
The floor was scattered with the flowers Hayden had brought, petals fallen, the flowers already wilting.
Tears fell to the ground. Courtney crouched down, picking up the flowers and carefully bringing them home. She her best to save every single bloom
She pitied and mourned for the flowers, while also desperately trying to save the shattered version of herself.
Courtney loved flowers, but after being trapped in South Weidan, she rarely saw them.
Later, Hayden always found ways to bring her flowers. Sometimes wildflowers, sometimes roses
Courtney would carefully place them in a vase, guarding the burst of color in the dry, stuffy air.
For these five years, the place Austin held in Courtney’s heart was what had kept her going

But the flowers and little surprises from Hayden were also one of the reasons her mental world hadn’t completely collapsed.
Sitting on the couch, Courtney stared at the flowers she had placed in the vase for a long long time.
It was already 2 am. When she threw the wrapping of the Blowers into the trash and was about to step outside, she saw a lone figure sitting helplessly by the door.
He was such a tall man, sitting there like a large d
dog abandoned by its owner, looking pitiful and wronged.

Courtney froze for a moment, looking at Hayden. He had been asleep, but upon hearing the noise, he looked up, gazing at Courtney innocent and longing expression.
“Courtney, apologize to me,” Hayden said, his first words demanding an apology from her.
He didn’t mind being beaten by Courtney. He was so tough and strong that she couldn’t hurt him.
But today, she had hit him because of Austin, a total jerk. Hayden was upse

Courtney looked at Hayden and, after a long silence, raised her hand and made an apologetic gesture.
Hayden, seeing she had given in, snorted. “I have nowhere to go..”

Hayden lowered his gaze, his voice hoarse. “If1 had a home, do you think they’d send me to such a dangerous place as an undercover agent? Five years…
Courtney froze, a wave of guilt rushing over her, and she quickly apologized. “I’m sorry.”
Hayden quickly stood up, grabbing Courtney’s gesturing hand. I’ve been wounded. Tyson kicked me out of the peacekeeping unit. My situation special, and I can’t go back. I don’t even have a job now”
“Courtney… I got shot to protect you, and you owe me,” he added.
Courtney froze, her whole body tensing.
It was true that Hayden had been shot while protecting her.
At that moment, when the bullet came. Hayden had shielded her. But after he was shot, Courtney had left him and run away.
“Did you come here to take revenge on me? Courtney lowered her head and asked with sign language
“I came to collect my debt, Courtney.. Hayden’s voice was rough. He grabbed Courtney’s chin, forcing her to look up
