Chapter 127
The next morning when Courtney woke up, she found Hayden gone.
Hayden, who always clung to her like an octopus and refused to let go even when awake, wasn’t in the room, so Courtney found it quite surprising.
Stretching leisurely, Courtney looked out the window. The sky was clear it had rained all night, but she had slept strangely well
In South Woidan, rain was almost a luxury, so falling asleep to the sound of rain had become like white noise. Besides, it wasn’t just the sound of the rain and there was also Hayden,
Habits could be really powerful. Over the live years in South Weldan, before Courtney even realized it, having Hayden by her side had become a part of
her very being
“Hayden?” Courtney called.
After getting up to stretch a bit. Courtney went to the living room to pour herself a glass of water.
She thought Hayden was in the bathroom, since a guy with a limp go couldn’t go else places, but there was no one in the bathroom either
Courtney felt a tightness in her chest and felt a fear she couldn’t quite explain.
“Hayden?” Courtney called again.
Courtney’s voice was a bit hoarse and trembling. “Hayden!” she exclaimed.
The room wasn’t big, and Courtney checked the kitchen and bathroom, but there was no sign of Hayden. The crutches by the door were also gone, which meant Hayden had gone out
“Hayden!” Courtney kept calling.
Feeling anxious, Courtney opened the door to look for him. As soon as she did, she saw Hayden standing there, resting on his crutches with a shopping bag held in his mouth, Inside the bag was a small bunch of flowers along with a certificate.
Courtney couldn’t say a word. She stood in the doorway, her breath quickening with anxiety and worry, and her eyes became slightly red at the corners.
Even though she was really mad that he was moving around with his leg broken, seeing his silly antics made her feel both angry and amused. “Why did you go out,” she asked.
“I asked Tyson to bring me my certificate, and I didn’t want him to wake you up, so I thought I’d get some exercise and ended up downstairs. Honey. please don’t cry,” Hayden hurriedly tried to comfort Courtney
However, as he spoke, the flowers and the certificate slipped to the floor.
Courtney hadn’t intended to cry, and she was just so worried that her eyes
er eyes turned red, but now the tears finally came. She laughed angrily, but her tears were uncontrollable for some reason.
“Couldn’t you wake me up?” Courtney said as she picked up the flowers from the floor, which were her favorite white tulips.
“How did you know… that I like these?” Courtney asked as she entered the room, not looking at Hayden.
Hayden leaned smugly against the wall, who was supported by the leg that was healing quickly “Who am I? We’ve known each other for over five years. How could I not know something like that?” he said.

Chapter 127
Hayden discovered Courtney love for white tulips while they was in South Weidan.
Flowers weren’t essential in South Weidan, so they weren’t commonly circulated. However, occasionally, some very rare bouquets would make it to Lucas’s district, and Hayden would always grab them to give to Courtney.
Courtney usually didn’t say a word, as she had been traumatized and couldn’t speak. Her eyes were empty like a zombie’s. However, whenever Hayden managed to get some flowers for her, a faint light appeared in her eyes, especially for white tulips
“My mom liked white tulips, and I like them too, thank you,” Courtney said, looking at Hayden,
After being with Austin for five years, Austin only knew she liked flowers, but never paid attention to which kind.
“Well, when we go to visit your parents‘ graves, I’ll get a whole bunch. I bought it in a rush, so it’s not custom–made. Hope you don’t mind,” Hayden said awkwardly, leaning against the wall as he pulled a box from his pocket.
He looked a bit embarrassed, reaching out to hand the box to Courtney before opening it.
Inside were two plain band rings, just simple loops with no extra decorations, but they looked clean and pure. Courtney looked at the rings for a long
time.
When Austin had proposed to her, he had used a diamond ring, but she had left it at home when she had gone on a mission.
She thought such a precious thing shouldn’t be taken and potentially lost, so she hid it like treasure.
Who would’ve thought that five years later, everything would change. Courtney’s home was now occupied by another woman and her child, and all her belongings were thrown into the basement by Austin and Vera.
While cleaning up that house, Courtney checked the basement. Her things were just carelessly piled up, and Vera had intentionally discarded that ring. making it impossible for Courtney to find it. However, she didn’t also feel like looking for it.
But now, Hayden handed her a new ring, which meant someone was willing to keep loving her. It was hard to put this feeling into words.
With tears forming at the corners of her eyes, Courtney gazed at Hayden, waiting for him to say something appropriate for a proposal.
During a proposal, people all usually say something really touching, but Hayden just stared at her with wide eyes.
“W–what? You…don’t like it?” Hayden asked, feeling a bit nervous.
Although he was usually a confident person, he feared that Courtney might not like his style. He thought that whether she thought the rings were too simple.
Though he didn’t have the time to have it custom made, Zach mentioned that it was the final piece by a well–known foreign designer, just waiting for the right person. Coincidentally, it fitted Courtney’s and his fingers perfectly.
In short, these rings weren’t something someone could just buy with money. They might look simple on the outside, but the inside was adorned with numerous gemstones, which was discreet yet profound.
