Chapter 123
In the Marilyn’s place, James looked at Marilyn, who had just returned from outude. “Is that Jacob pay still not out of danger?” he asked.
“it’d be better if he was dead,” Marilyn replied indifferently “Dad, you have no idea how badly he’s hurt. I heard from Douglas that he’s still in the ICU,”
she added
“if he dead, how could you marry him? Even if he were disabled, you would also marry him. Our family needs the Reed family’s connections right now,” James said, glaring at Marilyn.
“Dad, don’t worry about that. I’ve already figured out a backup plan, and I’ve convinced Douglas, Marilyn smirked.
“Before Hayden went off to join the army, Douglas made him freeze his sperm. Therefore, even if he doesn’t make it back, all I need to do is have his child” she explained.
Hearing this. James squinted, asking. “Douglas actually agreed to that?”
I suppose Jacob is really seriously injured. Douglas told me to think it over carefully. If I’m willing, he’ll set up IVF for me. When Jacob improves a little,
go get our marriage certificate, Marilyn smirked.
She proudly admired her freshly done nails. “Once there’s an heir to the Reed family, Jacob, that short–lived fool, dies, and Douglas, that old man, pas away, everything of the Rood family will belong to us,” she added.
Hearing this, James paused for a moment while pouring the coffee, then he laughed. “It has to be our Marilyn. You’re the daughter I’m most proud of,” he commended Marilyn
Hearing this, Marilyn sat up straight with pride. “Dad, just you wait for your grandson to be born safely. This is the bloodline of the Reed family, the key to opening new opportunities for our Lewis family,” she said.
Marilyn was getting exci
excited, since once the baby was born and Jacob passed away, this child would be the sole heir to the Reed Group, and she could take control of the Reed Group
She thought proudly, ‘By then, who would dare to look down on our Lewis family?‘
“Get IVF done as soon as possible to avoid any unexpected issues, James urged, who was worried about potential problems.
“Okay, Dad” replied Marilyn.
In the farmer’s market of the military district compound,
Courtney pushed Hayden as they went grocery shopping at the market. When they passed through the seafood section, a big fish jumped out and just landed in Hayden’s arms.
Hayden sat there holding the big fish, who was too surprised to respond. Courtney and the vendor were equally taken aback.
After a long while, both Courtney and the vendor burst out laughing
“Wow, young man, you’re so handsome that my figh has a crush on you,” the vendor said, laughing so hard it hurt.
Courtney, trying to hold back her laughter, said to Hayden, who still seemed a bit bewildered, “This is lucky, since fish symbolizes wealth. You’re going to get rich!”

Hayden and the fish in his arms stared at each other wide-eyed. “I want to eat braised fish,” he pleaded.
“Alright, let’s stow it.” Courtney agree, and then she bought the fish and handed it back to Hayden,
“Honey, I’m down on my luck. I’ve got a broken leg, and even a fish is giving me trouble,” Hayden grunted
Hearing this, Courtney chuckled and pushed him to go buy proceries and fruits. This fively scene was something they never even dared to imagine while
they were in South Weidan.
In South Weidan, Hayden had taken Courtney to visit the local markets, but everything there was dirty and messy, and the fruits and vegetables weren’t fresh at all, which were really unappetizing
“Babe, do you know how to make mashed potato?” Hayden asked, pointing at the potators
Courtney nodded, and then she took a few potatoes and placed them in Hayden’s arms,
“Babe, I want to eat corn,” Hayden continued.
He was like a kid bursting with energy, who didn’t make any outrageous demands but was just overly lively. Courtney couldn’t help but feel helpless
towards him, so she went to pick some corn.
“Courtney!” someone called
Just as Courtney finished paying and was about to leave with Hayden, Austin hurried over and grabbed her wrist.
“I’ve been looking for you for ages. Someone mentioned seeing you around here, and I still doubted it. I can’t believe that you’re actually hiding out here
with him,” he shouted
“Are you out of your mind?” Courtney asked as she frowned at Austin
“Hey, can’t you see she’s with someone?” Hayden asked loudly, grabbing a cane from his wheelchair and standing in front of Courtney to protect her.
Austin glared angrily at Hayden. “Courtney, you’re really spending your life with someone like him now? He’s nothing but a thug and a scoundrel,” he reprimanded.
“You look more like a jerk right now, Courtney snapped.
The market was packed, and everyone was watching the scene unfold.
“You’re my wife, and now you’re also tangled up with someone like him, even living together? Do you have any shame?” Austin huffed, who was truly angry worried Courtney might marry again.
Seeing this scene, the bystanders were gossiping, clearly catching on to Austin’s efforts to defame Courtney.
“Are you crazy?” Hayden asked, and his eyes darkened. He tried to stand up from his wheelchair but was stopped by Courtney.
“Broken legs, huh serves you right, Austin sneered when looking at Hayden’s legs.
Courtney took a deep breath and looked at the woman selling seafood nearby “Ma’am, I’ll buy this tub of fish,” she said,
With that, Courtney splashed the fish water all over Austin. “You were the one who cheated and caused the divorce.
“Now that we’re divorced and have nothing to do with each other, and you still come around bothering me. Do you really think I’m that easy to push around?” Courtney fumed.

Austin was soaked in the smelly fish water, staring at Courtney in shock and disbelief. “Courtney… You did this to me for him? Just how far have you two gone? Or are you still mad at me?” he asked.
“We’re already living together and about to get our marriage certificate,” Courtney exclaimed again, holding Hayden’s hand, “Besides, I’ll write a will, leaving everything to my husband, Hayden, after I die!”
