Chapter 121
Courtney paused momentarily as she held the showerhead but said nothing. She gently rinsed his scars on Hayden’s body, which, though healed, still appeared grim.
“Will my hand recover? Hayden looked at Courtney and softly asked.
“Can you play the piano?” Courtney asked Hayden back.
Hayden thought for a moment and shook his head, “I can pluck your heartstrings,” he joked.
“Then what are you worried about? Unless you want to play the piano, it won’t affect you. You just broke your bone. It’ll heal
“It didn’t damage any nerves,” Courtney reassured him softly as she squeezed toothpaste onto a toothbrush and helped him brush his teeth.
Hayden was exceptionally obedient, completely different from the way he had been in the hospital. Except for his restless hands, he sat there meekly.
“Then why does my hand feel numb when I touch you?” Hayden took the opportunity to tease Courtney, gently running his fingers along her arm.
Courtney sighed helplessly. “Even if a door pinches your hand, it can go numb.”
Hayden pouted and wrapped his arm around Courtney, “Babe, it hurts”
Up until now, he complains about the pain? Isn’t his reaction a bit delayed? Courtney wandered. “Where do
does it hurt? I’ll get you some painkillers later,” Courtney said, a little worried.
“It hurts everywhere–my fingers, my legs, I’m in pain all over,” Hayden, rarely showing vulnerability, mumbled as he held onto Courtney,
Courtney wanted to push him away, but he looked so pitiful. Even if a stray dog were begging for a hug with this sad look, she wouldn’t have the heart to push it away.
“Stop moving, rinse your mouth,” Courtney said, spraying his face with the showerhead. ‘His face is just… too striking. High nose bridge and deep–set eyes, and those eyes were also exceptionally attractive, she thought.
“Am I good–looking?” Hayden asked Courtney.
Courtney nodded honestly. “Yes, he is quite good–looking, she thought.
“I’m yours,” Hayden said with a smile.
Courtney couldn’t help but laugh helplessly, gently patting Hayden’s head. “Let go, I’m going to wash your hair.”
To her surprise, Hayden actually let go obediently, effortlessly stripping himself down to nothing.
Courtney was speechless and stared at Hayden, who had even taken off his underwear. “Do you have no shame?”
“You’re my wife, it’s not like you haven’t seen it before.” Hayden casually sat in the bathtub
Courtney gritted her teeth, her face burning red. ‘He’s hopeless. I’ve never seen someone with such thick skin, she thought,
After a full two hours of effort, Courtney finally got Hayden clean and threw him onto the bed. Her own clothes were soaked through, and she shot him an angry glare. “Lie still, don’t move. I’m going to take a shower”
Courtney went into the bathroom, took off her clothes, and was just about to wash up when she heard a loud thud outside. Fearing Hayden had fallen,

she quickly wrapped herself in a towel and rushed out. “Hayden?”
Hayden was on the floor, rummaging through the trash can. In his hand was the box of condoms Courtney had just thrown away, and he looked at her with an innocent expression. “I just thought it was such a waste”
“Hayden Sleep on the floor” Courtney shouted angrily before turning and heading back into the bathroom,
Once in the bathroom, Courtney stood dazed for a long time. When did I become so tolerant of Hayden?” she wondered.
Courtney still remembered that night in South Weidan. Hayden had taken her from Lucas, and that evening he had almost lost control. In her panic, Courtney slapped Hayden across the face and curled up in the corner, terrified.
Hayden simply leaned against the wall, lighting a cigarette, his gaze fixed on her. “Someone’s listening outside. You’d better scream a little louder. Otherwise, I’d feel embarrassed in front of them.”
He had always been so infuriating, loving to tease Courtney. Yet, he was also the one who protected her the most.
“Honey, I don’t want to sleep on the floor,” Hayden sat on the floor, looking at Courtney with pitiful eyes.
But if Courtney didn’t say anything, he wouldn’t dare climb into the bed. Though he wasn’t sure why, he was afraid that Courtney might get angry
“I’m not your wife. Think about it carefully,” Courtney shot Hayden an angry look.
Hayden froze for a moment, frowning. “You are my wife. We’ve been married for years.”
Courtney was stunned. ‘Married for years? Has he counted the
he counted the five years in 50
South Weldan too?‘ she wondered.
“Honey, it hurts my legs sleeping on the floor,” Hayden lay at the edge of the bed, looking up at Courtney with a pitiful gaze
Courtney gritted her teeth in frustration. “Think harder. Haven’t you remembered anything from your past?”
By the time Courtney spoke, Hayden had already climbed into the bed, pulling her into his arms. “I remember a little like how you used to make me hold you to sleep every night, or else you couldn’t sleep well and would have nightmares.”
Courtney was once again blown away by how shameless Hayden could be.
During those five years in South Weidan, to protect Courtney from Lucas’s people, Hayden had kept her by his side, claiming to everyone that she was his woman. They shared a bed every night.
Courtney had always been wary of Hayden, cocooning herself in layers while sleeping. Yet, every morning, she’d wake up in his arms because he loved to pull her into his embrace while he slept, using her like a pillow.
“Buzz” Courtney’s phone vibrated. It was a call from Austin.
Recently, with Courtney y on leave, Austin had been trying to reach her, calling almost every day.
Courtney thought she had made things clear, but Austin still believed her divorce was just a temporary fit of anger
After hanging up, Courtney was about to block Austin’s number when he sent her a WhatsApp message–a photo someone had taken earlier that day when she and Hayden were discharged from the hospital.
Austin seemed pretty angry as he texted on What App: [Courtney, what’s your relationship with him?]
Annoyed, Courtney replied: We’re dating. Then, she immediately deleted Austin from her contacts. She thought it pointless to keep him anymore.
