Chapter 118
In the hospital room, Hayden was still unable to get out of bed due to his severe injuries. He had been relying on a catheter, something he couldn’t tolerate given his impatience. He couldn’t stand it anymore and angrily demanded the doctor remove it.
“Hayden, stop making a fuss! Courtney scolded as she entered the room, finding two doctors struggling to hold him down. He reacted fiercely.
The moment Hayden saw Courtney, he instantly deflated, like a lion suddenly robbed of its roar. Drooping his head, he whimpered, “Honey, it hurts” His valce was choked, filled with thick frustration and grievance.
He couldn’t get out of bed because both his legs were broken and needed time to heal. All of his fingers had been fractured and wrapped in bandages, so he couldn’t do anything
Being stuck in bed was already humiliating enough, but now he had to use a catheter too–something that was utterly mortifying for a proud man like Hayden.

Hayden’s ears turned red with embarrassment as he angrily looked away. He mumbled under his breath, “I’d rather be dead.”
“Hayden!” Probably provoked by his words, Courtney’s emotions got out of control for a moment. Her eyes reddened as she stood by the bed, scolding him. “Don’t ever say that again!”
“Several times, he narrowly escaped death and finally survived. After enduring three major surgeries, he barely made it through. But now, how could he say something so discouraging Courtney thought.
Hayden froze for a moment, turning back to look at Courtney. Seeing her cry, his heart ached. Clumsily, he raised his bandaged, mummy like hand to touch her fingers. “Honey, I’m sorry… I’ll never say anything like that again.”
Courtney turned her face away, wiping her tears, then picked up a clean towel and gently helped Hayden wipe his face. “Does it still hurt?” she asked softly, brushing his brows. The bruises on his face had nearly healed but still had scabs.
Hayden looked at Courtney, obediently shaking his head. “It doesn’t hurt.”
“If it doesn’t hurt, why are you making a fuss?” Courtney wiped Hayden’s face and carefully applied a warm compress with a hot towel. He sat there quietly like a well–behaved big dog.
The supervising doctor sighed heavily, his face full of concern. “Courtney, if necessary, I’ll talk to your department head and arrange for you to take a few extra days off to stay here. When you’re here, he’s manageable. When you’re not… well…”
The doctor pointed at Hayden, gritting his teeth in frustration “He’s like a completely different person!”
*This little rascal even has two faces?” Courtney wondered.
“Dr. Harrison, thank you. I’ll apply for leave tomorrow,” Courtney said, feeling a bit embarrassed. “I handle things here. Please apologize to Isabella for me. He’s… well, he’s thin–skinned.
“When it comes to something like replacing a catheter, there’s no way he’d let anyone else do it.”
Courtney almost wanted to laugh but held it in. Earlier, when a young nurse had come to change Hayden’s catheter, she ended up leaving the room in
tears.
The doctor nodded and patted Hayden on the shoulder. “Young man, you’ve got

let your wife get too worn out. You need to behave, got it?”
Hayden snorted, ignoring the doctor, and gripped the blanket covering his legs. When he wasn’t conscious, he could do nothing, but now that he was awake, it was simply unbearable for him to allow anyone else to handle such a thing
Only Courtney and Hayden remained in the hospital room.
Courtney looked at Hayden closely and couldn’t hold it in any longer, bursting into laughter.
Hayden’s face flushed with anger, and he buried his head in Courtney’s chest, grumbling, “Stop laughing at me.”
Courtney laughed so hard her stomach hurt. It wasn’t that she wanted to laugh, but it was just too funny to hold back. Finally, she managed to stifle her laughter and teased. “Well, if I weren’t a doctor, who would handle it for you?“.
Hayden blushed and looked flustered, muttering through clenched teeth, “I’m tarnished.”
“You’re perfectly fine,” Courtney replied, holding back another laugh as she put on medical gloves and prepared disinfectant. “Come on, lift the blanket.”
“I don’t want to…” Hayden stubbornly gripped the blanket, refusing to let Courtney touch him.
Courtney didn’t want to touch him either, but she was a doctor, so she didn’t have a choice, “I’m a doctor, I won’t hurt you,” Courtney said, trying to stifle her laughter,
Hayden was so angry his breathing became uneven, his face still flushed,
His naturally striking features appeared even more delicate after over a month without sunlight, the healthy tan he once had now nearly gone. His chiseled features now gave him the look of a sulking wolf–dog.
“Babe, I’m still young. This won’t affect my performance, right?” Hayden asked seriously.
Now it was Courtney’s turn to flush. “What nonsense are you talking about? It’s just a catheter. It doesn’t affect anything!” Courtney, usually so composed and refined, was on the verge of cursing thanks to Hayden.
“I’ll have to test that once I’m discharged,” Hayden replied with a skeptical expression, as if he didn’t believe her.
Courtney raised her hand and gave Hayden a light smack on the back of his head. Worried she might hurt him, she glared at him angrily, then sanitized her hands again. “Hurry up and shut your mouth, or I’ll call Isabella in.”
“No! How can you treat me like this, honey? How can you let another woman touch me? Hayden fumed, his chest heaving with indignation.
Courtney lifted her chin, giving him a final ultimatum. “Lift the blanket!”
