“Enough of this nonsense!” Samuel held out a protective arm towards Dana and stomped on Nina’s ashes. “I’m warning you! Stop this at once! You think some flour will trick me?”
“Ah-! Move aside!” I slumped to the ground, hitting his leg away. His leg did not move, so bit into it!
Samuel grunted and lifted his leg up. “What a psycho.”
I carefully scooped Nina’s ashes back into her urn. Some of the firemen could not bear to watch it. Some of them even bent down and helped me.
I shoved them away. “No need to help me. I said there’s no need! Just go!”
Samuel pulled those firemen up. “I’ve been with her for a long time. She’s always been that way. She’s manipulative and vicious. You can’t trust her.”
I stood up slowly and wiped away my tears. I glared at Samuel and said, “Samuel, Nina’s funeral will be in two days. My parents will come over too. I hope you can show for her for the last time.” I added, “After the funeral, I’m filing for a divorce.”
Then, I left without looking back.

Samuel snickered. “Your parents love me. I haven’t even told them about you causing a scene here. They will teach you a lesson. You want a divorce? You’ll be a single mother! Who on earth would want you?”
Dana stumbled a little when she heard what Samuel said.
How comical. He had been protecting Dana all this while, but was she not also a single mother?
He still wanted her.
I left the party. By the entrance, I heard Samuel saying loudly, “Come one, don’t let her spoil our party! Let’s continue eating!”
He had been with Dana all night while I cried to sleep with Nina’s urns in my arms.
“Samuel, I will make you pay for this!”
The next morning, my parents rushed home from abroad. When they saw Nina’s funeral portrait, they wept.
My mother picked up Nina’s favorite doll with trembling hands. She had trouble speaking. Finally, she said angrily, “How dare Samuel do this!”
My father was always the calm and composed one. At that moment, his eyes were red too. He hired a crew to throw all of Samuel’s belongings out.

I thought back to ten years ago when I was stuck in a mall fire. He was the one who rushed in boldly and rescued me.
The look in his eyes was forever ingrained in my brain. How determined and brave he was, saving me from the brink of death.
At that moment, I fell in love with him.
When my parents heard about our relationship, they initially objected to it. After all, our family managed one of the city’s most prestigious security groups. We were a wealthy family, but Samuel was an orphan.
I was head over heels in love, so I was determined to be with Samuel.
To put my mind at ease, he treated me with extreme kindness. I was always his number one, everything else was secondary.
My parents were moved by his actions. They came to accept him and even treated him like their son.
They even promised to hand over the family business to him in the future.
However, what Samuel did not know was that my parents only treated him nicely on the basis that he treated me well.
When his true love, Dana, returned, everything changed.
On the day of the funeral, Samuel finally showed up. He had only come because he knew that my parents had returned.
The moment he entered the door, he reached his hand out to my parents. “Mom, Dad, why didn’t you get me to pick you up?”
My mom shrugged his hand aside and slapped him in return.
Samuel was baffled. He looked at my mother in disbelief.
Half a year ago, my parents took a break from the family business to travel as a celebration of their 40–year anniversary.
When they returned, they didn’t expect that they would never be able to see their precious granddaughter ever again.
My mother’s heart broke thinking about Nina. She frowned with an ugly expression. “How dare you show yourself! My poor Nina! How could you do it? She’s your daughter!”
My father was always a man of little words, but when he got furious, he was terrifying. He kicked Samuel in the stomach.
Samuel bent down in pain. He even struggled to stand up after that.
