Chapter 13
It started to rain again.
Corey and Ethan still stood in the yard..
Their figures carried a hint of stubbornness and fragility.

I watched them from the second floor, occasionally feeling their aggrieved yet affectionate gazes.
I just found it amusing.
I thought, “What’s the use of expressing affection now?”
Moreover, I would never believe that Corey actually regretted losing me because he realized he loved me.
Ethan also didn’t love me as his mother.
He just couldn’t get used to not having me look after him.
I went downstairs and brought them an umbrella.
The clothes on Corey and Ethan were basically soaked.
With a pale face, Ethan stared at me, and tears welled up in his eyes, like some kind of animal trying to make my heart soften.
Corey’s clear and cold eyes also carried a hint of moisture.
Seeing me coming, he spoke, “Lena, please come with us.”
That must be the first time that Corey had never begged anye.
I smiled and handed the umbrella to him.
Corey’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, and a hint of surprise burst forth from his eyes.
Then, I said word by word, “Corey, if you don’t take Ethan away within five minutes, I will call the police.”
The smile on his face gradually faded, and the emotions in his eyes dispersed in an instant.
His shoulders also drooped down.
He seemed to be shrouded in distress.
Corey hesitated for a moment but said nothing in the end. He turned. and left with Ethan.
While they walked out of the yard, Ethan still turned back a few
times.
I asked myself, “Did I just go soft?”
There was indeed a moment when my heart softened..
But I knew very well that instead of feeling sorry for them, I should feel sorry for myself.
Being tortured and ignored for ten years was what was truly worth sorry for.
I suddenly felt no rain, and I turned my head in surprise.
Chapter 13
It was Brian who came to me, holding an umbrella.
There was a hint of concern in his eyes.
But he chose to ask nothing, only smiling gently.
“The stove is burning. It’s warm inside. Let’s go in.”
Under my threat, Corey indeed calmed down a lot.
But he and Ethan still had no intention of leaving.
I was staying in a hotel in town.
My guesthouse was still under construction.
When I came to deal with matters in the coffee plantation and my guesthouse, I always stayed in Brian’s place.
He had two houses, just a wall apart.
Corey and Ethan didn’t come to make trouble at Brian’s place. again.
But when I occasionally went to town, I could still feel two people following behind me.
I pretended not to see and planned to cold–shoulder them.

I realized that the more attention I gave them, the more excited they would get.
nal
Both of them grew up in a life of luxury and abundance.
Chapter 13
They couldn’t get used to the hard days over here.
Before long, they would leave.

Even if they could endure the harsh life here, people in the Skye Group would also urge Corey to return.
One day, when I returned to the hotel, I saw Ethan squatting downstairs of my hotel.
His originally fair and delicate face was a bit dirty, and his eyes were red and swollen as if he had been crying.
It was the first time I had ever seen Ethan in such a mess.
After all, both he and Corey were strict perfectionists.
They also had an obsession with cleanliness.
It was really a rare scene.
I pretended I didn’t see it and tried to walk past him directly.
“Mom, it hurts.” Ethan cried out.
Since Ethan turned five, he had never cried like this in front of
- me.
His voice was a bit loud, which immediately drew the attention of the people around.
I stopped in my tracks, walked up to him, and frowned slightly.
