Chapter 10
A week after I arrived in Cloudrea, Corey cut me off completely.
But he didn’t know that I had some savings, which were left by my
mom.
The family card Corey gave me was only used for household expenses.
I never used it to buy clothes or jewelry for myself.
Although my Colton family fell from the top, there was still enough money for me.
After some consideration, I sold my wedding ring and acquired at coffee plantation.
When I stayed in Cloudrea for a month, Corey started to call and message me frequently.
Most of the time, it was about the division of assets after our divorce.
Sometimes, he would ask if I needed my other stuff to be delivered.
Sometimes, he would ask how to use the dry–cleaning machine at
home.
I had enough of it.
“The property division contract was very clear about how to divide our property. I don’t want my things anymore. Just throw them away. If you don’t know how to use the appliances, you can ask Mary.

“Corey, can you please stop bothering me?”
Just as I was about to hang up, he spoke again.

This time, it was a careful inquiry, “Lena, it’s been a while since you left. Do you still have money?”
I looked at the coffee plantation contract I had just signed and smiled.
“Mr. Skye, rest assured. Even if I were reduced to being homeless, I would never ask you for a single dollar.”
Enraged again, Corey snarled at me, “You’d better not.”
I was confused.
A few days later, Ethan also started calling me.
But most of the time, he would call and quickly hang up.
At first, I thought it was a mistake.
But later, he would call me three or four times a day.
I began to suspect that he was playing a prank on me.
Although Ethan was more mature than his peers, he was still a child after all.
I heard that he had moved in with his grandmother. So, it was natural that he was encouraged to hate me.

Ethan was also vindictive.

I thought about it. For the first time, I unblocked Corey’s contact and sent a message to him.
“Tell Ethan that if he plays pranks on me and calls me again, I will block him.”
The dialogue box showed that Corey was still typing.
But I didn’t want to be morally obligated, so I deleted Corey from my list.
Finally, I had some peace in the following month.
But the fact is, I still felt uncomfortable sometimes.
It wasn’t about missing them. I just felt sorry for the old me.
Being busy working in Cloudrea made me regret even more not having resisted my parents in the first place..
I lost ten years.
I could have done a lot of things in ten years.
I sat in the coffee plantation, lost in thought.
Suddenly, little misty raindrops began to fall on me.
It began to rain.
I got up and wanted to find a place to hide from the rain.
But I didn’t expect the mountain road to be so slippery that most fell, which really put me off. I didn’t know whether to keep walking or to stop.
While I was feeling annoyed, I heard a shout in the distance, “Miss!”
A lovely girl holding an umbrella rushed over, and with her movements, her braid tied with a small light–yellow flower swayed back and forth.
I was startled and hurried over to catch her. “Slow down.”
The girl seemed to be four or five years old. She wasn’t particularly fair–skinned but adorable and clever.
She looked at me with her beautiful and smiley eyes.
Later, when she knew me better, she followed me around everywhere.
Her name was Mia. Her parents had passed away, and she only had an older brother who was over twenty years older than her.
I asked her to call me Ms. Colton. That should be the proper way to address a woman of my age.
But Mia disagreed and insisted on calling me Lena.
She said I was just as young and beautiful as her mother.
She felt that calling me Lena would bring us closer.
Later, her brother told me that she had never seen her mother since.
birth.
