Chapter 11
Maybe Anna had already discovered that he had been cheating on her!
Jonathan thought to himself.
He had always believed he was hiding it well, managing both Anna and Isabella without anyone noticing.
He thought he was being cautious, that his relationship with Isabella was just a fling, something he would never bring into the open or allow Anna to find out about.
But now, it seemed that she knew.
When did it all start?
How could she be so heartless, deciding to divorce him and completely disappear from his life?
Tears blurred his vision, and the world around him seemed to fade away.
Then, Jonathan suddenly remembered something Anna had said when she had agreed to marry him.
“I will try my best to be a good wife, but I will never tolerate any lies. If you deceive me, ⚫ disappear from your world forever.”
At the time, Jonathan had been confident that he would never do anything to hurt her.
After all, he loved her so deeply and could never deceive her.
He would have gladly laid his whole heart bare in front of her if she had asked.
But when had things started to change?
I will
Was it the repeated instigations of his friends? Was it the dull routine of married life? Or the countless temptations from other women?
Little by little, he had lost the sincerity he once had for her.
He had gone along with the flow, seeking excitement and falling into Isabella’s manipulative advances.
With his friends pushing him on, and Anna remaining unaware, treating him as lovingly as always, Jonathan got lost in the illusion of his perfect life.
He had been so confident that he could control everything.
But he had forgotten that Anna was never the type to silently tolerate such betrayal.
Her parents‘ example was a stark warning.
They had once struggled for the sake of their child, only to become resentful spouses, and after their separation, they even turned into enemies.
Their love for their daughter had been worn down by endless disputes.
They had even grown to hate Anna, and just seeing her made them uncomfortable.
Once Anna knew the truth, she couldn’t continue to turn a blind eye.
She had her own pride, and a heart that had been shattered beyond repair could never be put back together.
Rather than become resentful partners like her parents, she chose to leave early.
Anna knew Jonathan well.
She understood that if Jonathan found out she was leaving, he would never let her go. He would use any means necessary to keep her by his side.
So, Anna had left everything behind in America, including her past identity, and completely disappeared from Jonathan’s world.
Realizing all this, Jonathan couldn’t contain the anger and regret that consumed him.
“Anna, no, this can’t be true. I can’t let you go!”
He instinctively reached for the divorce papers, intending to tear them up.
But then, he hesitated, realizing that this might be the last thing she had left for him.
If he tore it up, even that small connection would be gone.
He traced Anna’s name on the paper with his fingers, his eyes filled with longing for her.
“Anna, it’s my
fault. I shouldn’t have had another woman. I only love you.”
“Hit me, yell at me, w
