Chapter 10
“Do you… do you know where Anna went? When did she leave?”
Jonathan instinctively licked his dry lips, his voice hoarse.
The servants all shook their heads. “Sir, the lady left early this morning with her suitcase. We’re not sure where she went.”
Left? Where could she have gone?
His mind went blank, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t think of anywhere,she might have gone.
Her father and mother had long since remarried and started their own families. Anna couldn’t have gone to them.
He could only turn to Anna’s friends for help.
“Hello? This is Jonathan. Is Anna with you?”
“Huh? What are you talking about? How could Anna be with me?”
This conversation happened countless times.
Even Jonathan’s own friends had been asked, but no one knew where Anna had gone.
The overwhelming sense of despair washed over him again and again.
It felt as though he was back in the time before Anna was in his life.
She was the only person he had ever truly loved, almost like the very heart in his chest.
It was as though his flesh had been painfully ripped away, and the excruciating feeling almost shattered him completely.
“Anna, stop playing games with me, okay? I just want to see you.
Jonathan screamed hoarsely, his eyes bloodshot, like a lion who had lost its mate.
Suddenly, something occurred to him, and he quickly ran upstairs.
In the study, a sticker labeled “Open in two weeks” was lightly peeled off.
It was as if he had found a glimmer of hope, and he reverently held the gift box.
“Maybe Anna left me a message here, hoping I’d find her.”
Jonathan almost muttered to himself, losing his mind.
He tore through the layers of packaging, opened the box, and a divorce agreement with Anna’s signature was right there before him.

“No! No way… no way…”
He gripped the divorce papers tightly, dazed, and collapsed into a chair, unable to believe what he was seeing.
“Anna loved me so much, how could she abandon me? Who swapped out the gift Anna left for
me?”
Jonathan grit his teeth, stubbornly insisting.
Then, he called all the servants in the villa and questioned each one about who had touched the gift box on his desk.
“Mr. Jonathan, we are just responsible for cleaning. We wouldn’t touch anything that wasn’t ours unless you or Mrs told us to.‘
“Yeah, if you don’t believe us, you can check the surveillance footage in the study. The truth will be clear.”
Each servant claimed they hadn’t done it.
But Jonathan still didn’t relent.
It wasn’t until the surveillance footage was played at a faster speed in front of him that he finally accepted the reality.
In truth, how could he not know? The box in his hands was clearly the one Anna had left for him two weeks ago.
But he had been in denial, desperately refusing to accept it.
In those thirty minutes, the torment inside him felt like a century had passed.
All his repeated questions were just him hoping for an accident, something that would tell him, “Anna didn’t really want to leave you.”
But the truth was this cruel.
Jonathan watched over and over as Anna signed the divorce agreement with determination. She was truly giving up on him. She wanted to leave him.
But why?
He asked himself.
All the details of his time with Anna in the past weeks replayed in his mind, over and over. The small signs that had once felt off gradually became clearer, rising to the surface.
