Chapter 23
Mrs. Carnegie, who had been waiting outside, felt a bad premonition rise in her heart when she saw Antonin walk in.
So, when Angelina and Antonin were about to leave, Mrs. Carnegie didn’t think twice before stepping in front of them.
“Angelina, are you leaving already? Is this person your friend?”
For Mrs. Carnegie, Angelina had more patience than with Fabian, but it was only in comparison to him.
Since hearing those words at the Carnegie family estate that night, Angelina could no longer treat Mrs. Carnegie with the same warm attitude.
Facing Mrs. Carnegie’s somewhat unfriendly question, Angelina replied in a businesslike
manner.
“My relationship with Fabian is beyond repair. This is my boyfriend, Antonin.”
Antonin politely greeted Mrs. Carnegie, but she wasn’t in the mood to respond. Instead, a sense of resentment toward Angelina arose in her heart, and her tone became somewhat displeased.
“Angelina, it’s been less than two months since you and Fabian broke up. How can you…”
“Can’t you see how much suffering he’s been through these past few weeks? Since you agreed. to come back to see him, why not give him another chance?”
Mrs. Carnegie’s gaze, which was appraising both Angelina and Antonin, made Angelina frown. deeply. Her expression immediately turned cold.
“Aunt, no matter how much suffering Fabian has endured, it has nothing to do with me. Everything is his own doing.”
“I agreed to meet him because of how kind you were to me back then. But does that mean Fabian can cheat on me before our wedding, and after we break up, I still have to ask for your approval if I want to start a new relationship? What gives Fabian the right to ask me to do this?
“Aunt, you knew about Fabian’s affair before I did and helped him hide it from me. I won’t judge whether you were right or wrong, but you have no right to expect me to forgive what you’ve done.”
Mrs. Carnegie’s face turned red with anger at Angelina’s sharp words. When she saw Fabian weakly leaning against the wall as he walked out, she stopped arguing with Angelina and rushed over to him.

Angelina glanced back once, placed her hand in Antonin’s, and left the place with him.
From then on, she and Fabian had nothing to do with each other.
This was Antonin’s first time in Boston. Angelina took him around the city, met with Daliana, and made plans to have her visit Paris. After that, she left Boston and returned to Paris.
When the plane landed in Paris again, a sense of long–lost relief filled Angelina’s heart.
It was in Paris, during her first visit, that Angelina met Antonin.
At that time, she had been almost scammed while looking for an apartment through an agent, but Antonin appeared and stopped it, then helped her find a place to rent.
From that moment, they became friends, occasionally meeting for meals, growing more and more familiar with each other.
Later, Antonin confessed his feelings, and Angelina almost naturally agreed.
Some might think that it was cold–hearted for Angelina to start a new relationship just two months after breaking up with Fabian.
But that didn’t affect Angelina in the slightest.
As Antonin had said, running away only leads to more trouble, while facing fear head–on is the best way to overcome it.
Angelina never doubted sincerity, but she couldn’t deny that sincerity could change in an
instant.
The sincerity Fabian once showed and the sincerity Antonin showed now–Angelina would never deny either.
She had the courage to leave Fabian decisively after realizing he no longer loved her, and she had the courage to accept another person’s genuine love.
