Chapter 14
Fabian returned to Boston two days later.
Clearly, Angelina had already left New York, and staying there wouldn’t help. It was better to go back to Boston–this was where the Carnegie family’s foundation lay, and it would be easier to gather information here.
He resorted to his old methods, sending someone to track Dalina in the hopes of finding more news about Angelina.
But Dalina had long suspected something was off. She had told Angelina what had happened, and now Fabian, unable to get any information from her, had started searching everywhere.
He contacted everyone who knew Angelina, leaving no stone unturned in his quest for information.
As the situation escalated, it became clear that more than one person was trying to track down Angelina’s whereabouts.
From the people who had reached out, Angelina finally pieced together the truth.
This whole mess was Fabian’s doing
When approached by people asking about her, Angelina gave them only one response: “No. comment.”
But these people weren’t deterred by her cold demeanor. In fact, they grew more and more curious about what had happened between her and Fabian.
Unable to tolerate it any longer, Angelina unblocked Fabian.
Then, she sent him all the evidence she had of his affair with Natalie.
Among the evidence were photos of their marriage certificate, intimate pictures of them on Fabian’s computer, and evidence of their honeymoon..
There were even the provocative messages Natalie had sent to her after discovering she was
pregnant.
Once all of this was sent, Angelina let out a long sigh. She bid farewell to the quaint little town she had been visiting and boarded a flight to Paris.
What Angelina didn’t know was that as soon as she boarded the plane and switched her phone to flight mode, Fabian saw the messages she had sent. He nearly destroyed his phone in his
rage.
Several hours later, when Angelina landed in Paris, she saw countless unread messages and
missed calls.
Without exception, all of these messages and calls were from Fabian.
She opened the chat and was greeted with a screen full of apologies and pleas for her forgiveness.
“Angelina, you finally contacted me. You’ve forgiven me, haven’t you?”
“I know I’ve wronged you, but I’ve realized my mistakes. I’m willing to spend the rest of my life making it up to you, as long as you’ll come back to me…“.
Angelina guessed that Fabian hadn’t even bothered to read the messages she had sent him before sending his own.
Otherwise, she couldn’t imagine how anyone could be as shameless as Fabian.
After not receiving any response, his messages slowly turned into long, pleading essays.
Angelina didn’t even have the patience to read further.
The messages she had sent to Fabian weren’t meant to express her anger.
She simply wanted to make it clear that she knew everything and would never forgive him. She also hoped he would stop contacting her.
But it was obvious that Fabian misunderstood, or was pretending not to understand. He continued to beg for her forgiveness.
As she read the messages, Angelina couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of irony.
When she had wholeheartedly been with Fabian, he had ignored her, getting tangled up with Natalie instead.
Fabian might have understood the consequences of being caught, but he still couldn’t break free from Natalie’s soft embrace.
Angelina had even given him a chance to confess everything.
As long as he had told her the truth, they could part on good terms. But Fabian hadn’t. He had treated her like a fool, keeping her in the dark.
