Chapter 12
1/7/2
Fabian, overcome with anger and despair, coughed violently before spitting out a mouthful of blood, startling Mrs. Carnegie, who was standing nearby.
“Angelina, how could you be so cruel…”
Fabian’s shoulders shook as uncontrollable tears streamed down his face.
It took a long time before he managed to calm himself down.
Feeling the resolute finality of Angelina’s actions, Fabian realized that calling her again would
only result in either being hung up on or blocked. Persisting in such a futile effort was
pointless.
He thought back to his earlier call with Dalina. She must know where Angelina was.
Ignoring Mrs. Carnegie’s concerned gaze, Fabian called his assistant.
“Daniel, send someone to follow Dalina. Any information about Angelina must be reported to me immediately.”
“And investigate all flights and train departures from Boston today. If you find anything, let me know right away..
One task after another was delegated without a moment of pause. Fabian gave himself not room to breathe.
Only by keeping busy could he avoid being consumed entirely by his pain.
Mrs. Carnegie hesitated several times before finally voicing her attempt to persuade him to let
- go.
“Fabian, the world is vast. If Angelina is determined to leave, how can you possibly find her?”
“What happened at the wedding was witnessed by so many people. By now, news about you. has spread all over Boston. This could not only harm you but also drag the entire Carnegie Group down with it.”
“The best solution now is for you and Natalie to make a public statement together and have the PR team handle it…”
Fabian interrupted Mrs. Carnegie’s words with an unyielding rebuttal.
“Mom, don’t try to persuade me anymore. No matter what, I must find Angelina.”
“If she’ll come back, I don’t care if she beats me or scolds me–I’ll accept it. But giving up on finding her is like asking for my death.”
No matter what it took, even if it meant scouring, heaven and earth, he would find Angelina.

With that, Fabian left the house and went straight to his office, not even bothering to clean. the blood from his hands or mouth.
Rumors about Fabian’s past indiscretions, once suppressed, were now spreading rapidly. But Fabian had no time to care.
Boston saw countless flights and trains depart daily. Assistant Daniel compiled all departures on the day of the wedding.
After days of painstaking investigation, Fabian discovered that Angelina had purchased tickets for over ten domestic cities and six international destinations.
Looking at nearly twenty locations laid out on the table, Fabian let out a bitter smile.
Angelina was determined to leave no trace.
Yet even knowing this, Fabian couldn’t bring himself to give up on her.
One by one, Fabian ruled out the wrong destinations. But it was like searching for a needle in a haystack, plunging him back into despair.
From the wedding day to now, five days had passed. Fabian had slept less than five hours total, spending every other moment trying to track Angelina down, all to no avail.
On the sixth day, while giving Daniel more instructions, Fabian collapsed from exhaustion.
He remained unconscious for an entire day and night. When he woke up, he found himself lying in a hospital bed.
Fabian pulled out the IV needle in his hand, ready to leave, but was stopped as soon as he tried to get out of bed.
“Fabian, Mom said you haven’t rested in days. Please recover before you leave. Otherwise, I’ll be heartbroken.!!
It was only then that Fabian noticed Natalie was in the room.
His expression instantly turned icy as he roughly pushed her hand away.
“Know your place. Do you think you’re qualified to call her ‘Mom‘?”
Natalie gently cradled her now noticeably pregnant belly, her voice tinged with excitement.
“We’re legally married, and I’m carrying your child. So many people witnessed our wedding. Mom has already acknowledged me. She even helped me pick names for the twins yesterday. Fabian, listen and see which one you like…”
At that moment, the last thread of rationality in Fabian’s mind snapped.
In a blind rage, he grabbed Natalie by the neck, his fingers tightening mercilessly.
