Chapter 11
Fabian’s chest throbbed with a relentless, dull ache, the weight of guilt threatening to crush him completely.
But no matter what, he had to find Angelina.
Their relationship couldn’t end unless he said so,
Reviving his determination, Fabian found Angelina’s phone number and called her.
Unfortunately, every attempt ended with the same result: no answer,
Fabian then opened Whatsapp and went to their pinned chat. But as soon as he sent her a message, a glaring red exclamation mark popped up.
Angelina had blocked him on all platforms.
Fabian stared helplessly at his phone, feeling like he was losing his mind.
Even if Angelina had left, where could she have gone?
Her father had remarried shortly after Angelina’s mother passed away, starting a new family. Angelina had even been deceived by her stepmother and nearly harmed in a remote rural area.
After being rescued, her relationship with her father had soured to the point of no return. It was impossible that she would go to him for help.
Fabian spent considerable effort tracking down Angelina’s friends‘ contact details.
But every
call he made was met with the same shocked response:
“Isn’t today your wedding day? Why would she be with me now?”
Every fleeting glimmer of hope was crushed again, and Fabian felt himself being consumed by despair.
Finally, he dialed Angelina’s best friend, Dalina.
Hearing Fabian’s voice, Dalina let out a cold laugh before he could finish explaining.
“Looking for Angelina? Fabian, stop dreaming. Scumbags like you don’t deserve to see her again. You have no right to know where she is.”
Fabian ignored the mockery. Hope rekindled within him as he gripped his phone tightly and spoke quickly.
“You know where Angelina is, don’t you? Please, tell me. I’ll do anything you ask. I can give you money-”
Before he could finish, Dalina spat back, “You think your filthy money means anything to me?
Fabian, your apology is so worthless that even a dog would shake its head at it.”
The call disconnected before Fabian realized what had happened, and he kept apologizing frantically.
“I truly regret everything. I won’t even look at another woman besides Angelina. Please, just tell me….” Where is Angelina?
When Fabian redialed, he discovered that Dalina had blocked him as well.
He screamed in frustration, punching the ground until his fists were torn and bleeding, leaving a large stain of blood on the floor. He seemed oblivious to the pain, repeatedly inflicting harm on himself.
Time passed in a blur until the front door creaked open.
In just half a day, Fabian had experienced despair countless times, yet he couldn’t help but hope it was Angelina returning.
But when he saw Mrs. Carnegie walk in, another wave of despair swept over him, causing his once proud shoulders to collapse.
Mrs. Carnegie looked at his sorry state, torn between pity and anger.
“I warned you over and over to cut ties with Natalie, but you wouldn’t listen. And now, look at you, tormenting yourself like this!”
Fabian didn’t know how to respond.
He had once believed he could balance both Angelina and Natalie, but he had forgotten one truth: no secret stays hidden forever.
He regretted it. Deeply.
He had thought everything was seamless and that it wouldn’t matter since he hadn’t actually fallen out of love with Angelina. He had only been playing around with Natalie. Surely, that wouldn’t be a problem…
Mrs. Carnegie kept talking, her tone both resigned and firm.
“Natalie’s child has been saved. After all, it’s the Carnegie family bloodline. Your father and I have decided to keep her for now.
“Angelina leaving without a word shows that this is irreparable. You’ve married Natalie, and she’s carrying your child. Stop chasing after Angelina.”
“No!”

Fabian’s vehement protest burst out. He snatched Mrs. Carnegie’s phone from her hand.
“I won’t stop looking for her. She only blocked me, not you…”
The phone rang endlessly before the call was finally answered. A soft, ethereal voice came through.
“Hello?”
Fabian’s entire body trembled with emotion. Blood from his wounded hands seeped into Mrs. Carnegie’s phone as he clutched it tightly.
In a hoarse, trembling voice, he said, “Angelina, it’s me…”
But as soon as he spoke, the call was abruptly cut off.
