Chapter 10
Fabian stormed into the house, searching every room and turning over every corner, but sadly, there was no sign of Angelina.
“Angelina…”
“Sweet Angelina, stop playing games with me, okay? We still have a wedding to prepare…”
Fabian called her name over and over, but with each unanswered shout, the hope in his heart dissolved entirely.
Earlier, he had already noticed that everything in the house belonging to Angelina was gone.
Their matching items, the photos of the two of them hanging on the walls, the gifts they had exchanged for various anniversaries, and every trace of Angelina’s existence in the house- had all disappeared.
He realized something was wrong when he came home last night, but he hadn’t paid much
attention to it.
On the dining table in the living room, the two bowls of noodles he had cooked for them last night remained untouched.
The first official photo they had taken together as a couple was carelessly tossed on the table.
The photo had been torn in half. Only Fabian remained in the image now.
Fabian felt as if his heart had been ripped apart just like the photo, bleeding profusely.
At that moment, he finally realized: Angelina had truly left him.
But…
Why?
No matter how hard Fabian tried, he couldn’t figure out why Angelina had suddenly left.
The ringing of his phone broke the silence. Fabian’s hands trembled so much with excitement that he almost couldn’t hold the phone steady.
When he finally managed to pick it up, full of hope that it was à call from Angelina, the name flashing on the screen was Mrs. Carnegie’s.
Fabian froze. The emotional highs and lows left him dizzy.
When he answered the call, Mrs. Carnegie’s scolding voice burst forth.
“Natalie is pregnant! Why didn’t you tell us earlier? And when did you two even get married? Fabian, her tactics are so cheap–don’t tell me you couldn’t see through them.”
“Have you found Angelina yet?”
Fabian’s voice was already hoarse from shouting earlier. It was so raspy now that he almost couldn’t speak.
After a long pause, he finally responded in a lifeless tone, “Angelina is gone..
Mrs. Carnegie’s exasperated voice echoed from the phone, “She’s the kind of person who can’t tolerate even a speck of sand in her eyes. No wonder she insisted that I give her the bracelet only on the wedding day. She must have found out about you and Natalie…”
Fabian couldn’t process anything else Mrs. Carnegie said after that.
One sentence kept echoing in his mind: She found out about you and Natalie…
Fabian suddenly remembered the day Angelina had agreed to date him. She had warned him:
“Fabian, I can only accept love that’s completely unconditional. If you stop loving me, let’s part ways amicably. But if you ever betray me, I’ll make sure you never find me again.”
Mrs. Carnegie’s earlier assumption and Angelina’s words from the past replayed in Fabian’s mind, driving him to the brink of madness.
Angelina had left him because she had discovered his betrayal with Natalie.
Now that Fabian had calmed down, he began to realize just how many clues he and Natalie had
left behind.
Angelina had uncovered his infidelity, which explained why her behavior had become increasingly unusual recently.
But during that time, he had been more preoccupied with Natalie, so even though he noticed something was off with Angelina, he had ignored it.
It turned out there had been signs all along, but he had arrogantly believed he had everything
under control.
