Chapter 5
I woke up again.
Johnny hugged me and cried with joy, saying over and over again, “I’m sorry. I love you. Don’t leave me.”
But I couldn’t remember who he was.
Seeing my indifferent eyes, Johnny felt very
upset.
But I only felt that he was a scruffy and unkempt weirdo.
I was scared and kept backing away until I
reached the corner of the wall.
The next second, I fell into Arabella’s arms.
Arabella’s scent comforted me, and I gradually fell asleep.
When I woke up again, I regained my
senses.
Perhaps it was because Johnny didn’t want
to make me afraid again, he wasn’t in the
ward.
Arabella sat at my bedside, looking at me with her red and swollen eyes and holding my thin wrist.
She said to me, “Lena, don’t be afraid. I will cure you.”
When I heard Arabella’s words, I was shocked and then realized something.
Arabella was very familiar with Alzheimer’s disease. Thus, she could naturally notice my illness.
But I said in my heart, Arabella, you have studied this disease, and you know it better than anyone else.
From memory decline to hallucinations and delusions, and to finally becoming a useless idiot.
It was just a matter of time.
I couldn’t accept it, and I didn’t want to become like that.
On the side, Aleck looked at me with sadness in his eyes.
Helga also came to me and wanted to touch my head.
But when I saw her reaching out, I couldn’t help but shrink back.
This was the first time in these five years
that she had shown care for me. I was still
not used to it, so I avoided her touch.
But when Helga saw me rejecting her like this, she suddenly burst out and reached out to pat my head.
At the same time, she scolded me, “I raised you for so many years. I just said some harsh words. Why did you want to jump into the river? You are my daughter. What’s wrong with me touching you? You’re just sick, not dying!”
Seeing this, Aleck quickly stopped Helga and took her out of the ward.
“Lena, I will help you. Believe me, OK?”
The torment of the illness had made me numb. Now, all I wanted was to end this
torment.
As soon as I spoke, I couldn’t help but choke with sobs.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Arabella.”
“It’s OK. I don’t blame you. It’s my own fault, not yours.”
I knew Arabella didn’t understand what I
meant, but I didn’t want to explain. I just shook my head.
During the time I was hospitalized, Arabella told me something.
That day, when I ran out of the hospital in despair, Johnny was worried about me, so he followed me all the way.
When he saw me despairingly jumping into the river, he jumped in without hesitation to save me. And after that, it was also he who had been taking care of me.
After I woke up, he even confessed his love
to me.
Arabella knew that I liked Johnny, so she looked at me teasingly when she mentioned this.
But I told Arabella that I no longer liked Johnny.
Although Arabella was surprised, she didn’t ask much.
After I was discharged from the hospital, Johnny was worried that I would do something stupid again. So, he brought me back to his apartment to take care of me.
All sharp objects in the apartment had been taken away.
Apart from that, there were always people staying around me and watching me.
But once I made up my mind, no one could
stop me.
In the middle of the night, I listened to Arabella’s breathing beside me and knew that she had fallen asleep. Then, I suddenly
opened my eyes and walked into the bathroom.
Because of my hospitalization, Johnny hadn’t gone to the company for many days. Thus, he now had a lot of work to do, and I hadn’t seen him at all these days.
But just a while after I walked into the bathroom, Johnny suddenly walked into my room to check on me.
But he found that I was not in bed.
So, he hurriedly woke Arabella up and searched the room together.
But they didn’t find me.
When Johnny opened the door to the bathroom, he saw a horrible scene.
I had my eyes closed and lay in the bathtub, blood dripping from my wrist
nonstop.
There was already a puddle of blood on the floor.
When Arabella saw this, she collapsed on the floor at the door in disbelief.
Johnny walked in and found a horrifying bite mark on my wrist.
At this time, I was still conscious.
Johnny reached out his trembling hand, trying to hold me, but I pushed him away.
He became anxious and grabbed my uninjured hand, pulling me out.
Arabella quickly climbed up and helped.
However, I didn’t cooperate.
I used my bleeding hand to try to pry away Johnny’s hand.
When we left the room, I had already bled a lot.
The bright red color almost made Johnny go out of his mind. Suddenly, he stopped.
