Chapter 97

Melody asked, Why? What happened?”

With a look of disdain, Tiffany replied. It wasn’t exactly a fight, though. It was just Krystal accusing Dr. Chesson of neglecting his patient, saying that he took leave despite knowing how urgent the situation was

Melody furrowed her brow and asked, Did Dr. Chesson disclose the reason for his absence?”

Tiffany shook her head and replied. He didn’t specify. He only said he had other important matters to attend to. You should’ve seen how Krystal looked back then

she was scowling the entire time, as if someone had deeply offended her.”

Melody refrained from further inquiry. She promptly changed into her work uniform and headed straight to the doctor’s office, where she found jeremy sitting alone. She then knocked on the door, causing Jeremy to look up from his documents, his face devoid of expression

She walked into the office, her expression clearly revealing her concem. She then asked tentatively, Did your leave yesterday affect your work?”

Jeremy remained expressionless. His entire demeanor was cold and stem as he replied flatly, No.”

I heard that Dr. Finnigan had a disagreement with you over this. What about Dr. Tumer, then? Did you have an argument with him, too?she asked worriedly, wondering if he might face repercussions regarding his work ethic due to yesterday’s incident

Jeremy, without any change in expression, replied coldly, No.”

Noticing his tense expression, Melody had an inkling of what might have happened. She clenched her fists and tentatively suggested, It he has any misunderstandings, I can clear things up with him. I was the one who asked for your help yesterday. It had nothing to do with you, so—”

He cut her off midsentence, suddenly standing up from his seat after setting aside the documents he had been sorting. His height made him seem even more imposing as he glared at her, his eyes radiating coldness and suppressed imitation

Melody instantly flinched under his piercing gaze before hearing him say coldly the next moment, You’re unbearably noisy. If you’re aware that it’s your fault, then stop bothering me already.”

Their patient’s condition had deteriorated beyond what any of them had anticipated. They had already suffered one episode of shock yesterday aftemoon, and by the time he made it back to the hospital, a second episode had occurred

Melody felt a sharp pang in her chest from Jeremy’s reprimand. She had just wanted to explain to him when Krystal and Caleb suddenly walked into the office. Upon seeing Melody, Caleb immediately exclaimed, You’re finally here, Ms. Wardolf! You’ve got to talk some sense into them. They’ve been at each other’s throats since last night. I get that they disagree on the treatment plan, but surely they can find a way to discuss it rationally.”

Melody glanced up at Krystal, only to be met with a frigid gaze. She then hesitated before saying, ”

Yet, before she could finish her sentence, Jeremy cut her off, commanding coldly, Get out. How many times do I have to repeat myself

But Melody trailed off. She wasn’t sure if he was truly affected by yesterday’s incident. She felt the urge to explain on his behalf

Jeremy, however, wasn’t interested in her help. His profound eyes held nothing but cold indifference and suppressed irritation, sending shivers down Melody’s spine

It was at this moment that she realized that he didn’t need her help, causing her breath to hitch. Then, she heard him say in an unnervingly calm manner, just a nurse just focus on your job and not concem yourself with things that are beyond your reach. You wouldn’t understand any of it anyway”

You’re

Having stepped out of the office, Melody heard the door shut firmly behind her, making it clear that she wasn’t welcome back inside. She then tried her best to dismiss Jeremy’s harsh words from her mind
