Chapter 51
Alexis moved quickly, picking up her camera and snapping a shot before Melody could even introduce herself.
She froze and was unsure of what to do.
Alexis glanced at the camera screen and nodded in satisfaction. “You’re very photogenic.”
She extended a hand toward Melody. “Nice to meet you, I’m Alexis Sinclair. Felicia told me about your situation. You’re a nurse and only get one day off a week, right?
“Then let’s schedule one shoot per week. Three outfits per session. Do you think you can make that work?”
Alexis spoke fast, barely giving Melody time to process her words before she finished.
Melody hurriedly nodded. “Yes, that works for me.”
“How about a test shoot today?” Before Melody could even react, Alexis had already pushed her toward the dressing room.
It wasn’t until she had changed outfits and gotten her makeup done that the nerves finally hit her.
“I’ve never done this before,” Melody admitted. “I don’t know how to pose.”
“No worries, I’ll guide you.”
Alexis had arranged a simple home–style photoshoot for Melody. She asked Melody to let her hair down to cover her ears.
Melody had never really taken photos before. One reason was because she had always thought she looked plain, and the other was because whenever the Wardolf family took family portraits, Laura would always find an excuse to keep her out of the frame.
She’d used to say that Melody’s hearing aids made her look bad in photos, and because of that, Melody had developed a subconscious resistance to being photographed.
But since this shoot was meant to be casual and homey, she gradually relaxed despite being a little nervous at first.
Eventually, the shoot wrapped up faster than expected.
By the time Melody changed back into her own clothes, Alexis and Felicia were already reviewing the shots.
Alexis looked pleased. “You look great on camera. Your expression was a little stiff, but you’ll loosen up with practice.”
Then, she turned to Melody. “Do you want me to Venmo you or send it through Zelle?”
Melody hesitated. “Wasn’t this just a test?”
Alexis raised a brow. “You get paid for test shoots too. I’ll add you on WhatsApp. It’ll be easier for us to stay in touch.”
just one shoot had earned her 500 dollars!
Melody felt a little uneasy. She mumbled, “Maybe you should wait until next time when we do a real shoot? You just said I wasn’t quite there yet.”
Felicia laughed. “Why are you trying to save her money? She owns multiple studios, and her family runs a company. She’s richer than me.
“I’ll send you her account number. Just transfer it to her directly.”
After dropping Melody off at the hotel, Felicia was about to leave.
She patted Melody’s shoulder while grinning. “Congrats! If you ever go viral, you could be making way more money.”
Melody quickly shook her head. “I don’t want to be an influencer. I just want to save up some money.
Felicia had another shoot that night, so she left soon after.

Melody watched her go before turning to head inside. She planned to check out of the hotel and find a more affordable place to stay. The rates here were far too high.
However, just as she turned around, she saw Krystal right behind Jeremy.
She was standing behind a large potted plant when she heard Krystal’s usually cool voice carry a rare hint of amusement.
“You booked this hotel? Not bad.”
