The matter was brushed aside casually. After that Soren’s friends tactfully avoided mention of Zara. They were all waiting for the day she couldn’t stand it anymore and came back to him. When that day came, they would mock her to their heart’s content.
But then, three days became a week, then it strelched to two weeks. And soon, a month had gone by. Time passed, but she never returned.
Soren’s friends watched as his expression grew darker day by day. They tried their best to distract him with other topics. Meanwhile, Winry stayed by his side every day. She offered attentive care so thoughtful it made others envious.
Yet, despite receiving the devotion of the person he had pined for all these years, Soren couldn’t stop thinking about Zara. His mind was filled with thoughts of her, and there wasn’t a trace of happiness on his face.
What began as certainty slowly turned to doubt. By the time a month had passed, he was almost ready to be discharged. Yet, she still hadn’t reached out to him at all. For the first time, a strange sense of insecurity crept into his heart.
Had she truly given up on him? How was that even possible?
Just as his frustration reached its peak, his long–silent phone finally rang. He picked it up before his brain could even process the motion, and a wave of relief washed over him.
“Took you long enough to call me, Zara!”
Upon hearing her name, everyone’s ears perked up. Soren’s friends and Winry directed all their attention onto him. Their eyes gleamed with curiosity as they watched Soren on the phone.
But the fleeting joy on his face vanished in an instant, replaced by a heavy scowl. His exchanged puzzled looks. They were silently wondering what had just happened.
“Mr. Blight.” There came the hesitant voice of Jamie from the other end.

Oblivious to the tension on the other side, Jamie calmly relayed his findings. “The divorce certificate Ms. Cobain obtained is legitimate. As for the divorce agreement, the lawyer confirmed that your consent was sought at the time.
“They said you explicitly stated that your wife could sign on your behalf.”
