Chapter 19
“Drink some milk, Leon said, holding out a glass. His slender fingers contrasted elegantly with the smooth, milky white liquid.
“Why do I have to drink milk?‘–
Herhead peeked out from behind the door, her clean, delicate face fill of confusion. Her dark eyes sparkled, and a single strand of hair stuckup adorably onher head
up faster.”
Leonchuckled “Kids who drink milk before bed grow up
Kelly pouted and mumbled, “I’m not a lid. Grown–ups should drink it—especially someone like you.
She instantly realized she’d said too much and clammed up, mealding; a worried glance at Leon
His eyes flickered as he raised an eyebrow slightly. “An adult like me? And what exactly do you mean by thath
Older adults with fragile bones should drink milk too.
But the would never dare say that out loud, Under Leon’s intense stare, she quickly shook her head and said, “It’s nothing! Really!” Then, she snatched the glass from his hand. “Thank you, Professor Butler, Good night!”
The door slammed shut, leaving a thoroughly thistered Kelly hiding taber room.
Leon stood outside in silence, his expression readable. Was 29 really that old to a young woman like Kelly?
He then realized that he had been on the verge of graduating from college while she was still in primary school,
Okay, yeah That was quite an age gap.
וד
Kelly curled up in bed after drinking the warm milk. It was the biggest bed she’d ever slept in. She could actually roll around without falling off
She slept incredibly well. When she finally opened her eyes the next morning and glanced at her phone, she was shocked to see that it was almost in the moming
She had slept in until 11:00 am on her first day living with Leon. She jumped out of bed and buried through her moming routine. After getting dressed, she carefully cracked her bedroom door open.
Maybe if she said she’d been up reading all moming and hadn’t come out, he’d believe her?
But to her surprise, the apartment was quiet
Leon wasn’t home. His bedroom door was open, the bed was neatly made, and no one was in the study room either
Where did he go?
Just as she was wondering, she spotted a note on the dining table. The handwriting was bold and refined, just like him.
“Had to step out. Breakfast is being kept warm in the kitchen. —Leon”
She let out a huge sigh of relief.
Thank goodness. No one knew how late she’d slept.
She opened the oven in the kitchen and found a plate of croissants along with some bacon being kept warm there. She carried the plate of food to the table, humming happily to herself.
Waking up ruturally to a ready–made breakdast–life didn’t get better than this
She had only taken a few bites when her phone rang. It was Melissa. She picked it up and put it on speakerphone
“Kelly! How’s it going? How do you feel?”
“Huh? Feel about what? Kellyasked, puzzled.
“How does it feel sleeping next to Professor Butler? He looks like he smells amazing. Was it super comfy cudilling with him?”
Kelly early choked. Her ears tumed red. “We didn’t sleep together!”
“What?” Melissa practically screamed. “What do you mean you didn’t sleep together?”
Melissa groaned. “Kelly, come on! He’s a dream husband, and you’re just wasting the chance! Do you know how many girls at our school worship Professor Butler?”
Of course, she kur. Hlasses were always full, sometimes so crowded that people stood outside the windows just to see him
“Ithink separate gooins are fine
“No! That’s not at all!” Melissa shouted. “You two are legally married now. Sleeping in the same bed is perfectly normall Don’t you want to wake up every day to that handsome face? Good thing you’re pregnant. If this were bodour, just seeing him would’ve made your perlud come early!”
Kelly couldn’t even process that s
She didn’t hear the front door open as Melisa was yelling so loudly. A call figure stepped inside
“Kelly, listen to me,” Melissa continued, “You’re living with now. Whether it’s out of responsibility or not, you have the advantage. Flirt with him! Flint hand! After this baby, have another. Then, go for twins!”
Suddenly, a door clicked shat behind Kelly.
She teard, her bady stiffening as the aneously turned her head. Leon was standing at the entrance, his gare derp and foxed on her,
