Chapter 20 Genuine Fans
The winding mountain road twisted and turned dangerously. Just when it seemed the tractor was about to plunge off a cliff, the driver would expertly maneuver around a sharp bend.
And, who was seated facing the road, screamed multiple times.
Matt kept shouting to the driver at the front, “slow down, str!”
However, the driver replied, “I’m already driving very slowly!”
“Ana, maybe you should just close your eyes,” Wendy suggested. She was scared too, and Ana’s shrill outbursts were traying her nerves even more.
Upon realizing that she was disturbing Wendy, Ana quickly apologized, “I’m sorry. I’m just terrified. This is my first time on a road like this.”
Wendy said calmly, “There’s no need to apologize, I just thought closing your eyes might help ease the fear.”
“But I feel like it’s even scarier if I close my eyes,” Ana whimpered.
Maria was also frightened, but she tried hard to maintain her composure. Occasionally, a sudden jolt would elicit a short yelp from her, but she refrained from making high–pitched screams like Ana.
“Don’t worry. Drivers like this have usually been on these roads for 10 or 20 years. They know what they’re doing. You’ll be fine,” Demi assured Maria
Maria nodded in response. Only Demi was unafraid as she was familiar with roads like this.
“Judging by the footage, this mountain road really is terrifying!”
“Feels like a real–life roller coaster ride!
“I pity Ana.”
Determined not to leave a bad impression on the other guests or the viewers, Ana did her best to suppress her screams for the remainder of the bumpy ride.
Half an hour later, the tractor finally brought everyone safely to the village. If not for the reduced speed, they might have arrived even sooner.
Matt led the four female guests into a quaint courtyard, where a rustic wooden table awaited them. Once everyone was seated, the crew served tea and light refreshments to help them settle down
After ensuring the four women calmed down, Matt said, “While we wait for the male guests to arrive, why don’t we have a little chat?”
“Sure,” they replied while sipping their tea
“First, let’s start with you, Demi. The viewers are all very curious about your technique for opening that wine bottle earlier. Everyone’s dying to leam! Could you share your secret?”
Wendy and Ana perked up, their attention turning to Demi with equal interest.
Maria pointed at Demi and answered, “She already told me that it’s not easy to learn. It’s because she knows martial arts.”
Matt continued, “Well, we’ve got quite a few viewers who practice martial arts too. Could you reach them, Demi?”
“How do I put this? It’s really more of a sell that’s hard to explain. It’s something you have to feel. The key is to strike the base of the bottle with a sharp, precise motion, transferring the force through the liquid inside. The pressure from the Liquid then pushes the corkout.”
Demi paused before adding, “But here’s the tricky part. The force isn’t really about hitting the bottle. It’s about channeling it into the liquid. If you don’t get it right, you’ll either shatter the bottle or fail to pop the cork”
Everyone else on set had puzzled expressions.
“Listening to her explanation is like listening to an epic speech and I still don’t get it.”
“This sounds straight out of a martial arts novel.”
“I think Demi’s explanation is useful. At least we understand the principle behind it now!”
“Based on Demi’s explanation, only a martial arts master can pull this off. Does that mean Demi is a martial arts expert?”
“This must be her persona. She’s taking it.”
“Dear haters, please shut up. No matter what Demi does, you say she’s taking it, she clearly showed us how it was done. Why don’t you try faking it?”
“I’ve been meaning to say this. These haters are really ruining the vibe for everyone watching the stream.”
For the first time, someone had publicly spoken up for Dem. This marked a significant shift, as she was beginning to gain genuine fans of her own.
