The night was deep, and the bungalow was shrouded in silence.
Nathan pushed open the bedroom door. He rubbed his temples in exhaustion, ready to rest. However, the moment he lifted the blanket, his body froze instantly.
Evelyn Lay completely naked on the bed. Her fair skin glowed softly under the warm light. Her gaze carried a hint of seduction as she spoke in a sweet voice, “Nate, you’re finally back.”
Nathan’s throat tightened. He instinctively took a step back. “What are you doing, Evie?”
Evelyn sat up, reaching out to grab his wrist. Her voice sounded coy as she said, “Nate, we’re together now. Why do you keep avoiding me? Do you not like me?”
Nathan’s mind was in turmoil, but his body was involuntarily pulled closer to the bed. Evelyn leaned into his embrace. She tilted her head up to press a soft kiss on his lips.
Her kiss was gentle yet teasing, carrying a mix of exploration and seduction. As if drawn by an invisible force, Nathan responded to it.
“Bells…” he instinctively murmured.
Evelyn’s body went rigid. She pushed Nathan away, tears welling up in her eyes instantly. “W–Who were you just calling?”
Nathan snapped back to reality, Seeing Evelyn’s tear–streaked face, panic surged in his heart.
Only then did he realize that while kissing Evelyn, all he could think about was Annabelle. Memories of their kisses, the sweet moments, and the passion crashed over him like an unrelenting tide
His voice was hourse as he tried to dismiss it. “No one, Get some rest,”
But Evelyn wasn’t willing to let it go. She grabbed his arm and asked in a trembling voice, “Do you… find me dirty? Do you believe what you saw in those photos?”
Nathan was silent for a moment before reaching out to wipe away her tears. “No, I’m just not ready.” He sounded calm.
“Not ready?” Evelyn’s voice carried a mix of grievance and confusion. “When you love someone, don’t you want to have them all to yourself? Why do you love me, Nate?”

Evelyn’s expression paled at once,
Her eyes flickered for a moment There was a hint of guilt in her voice as she stammered, “T–That kitten… Actually… I…”
She hadn’t saved it out of kindness. The truth was, the kitten had scratched her, and she’d wanted to throw it to its death.
Before she could finish her sentence, the doorbell suddenly rang
Nathan frowned and got up to answer the door, Outside stood a delivery man holding a large package.
“Mr. Caldwell, you have a package from Ms. Winslow. Please sign for it.”
Nathan’s heart skipped a beat, and his fingers trembled slightly.
He took the package, signed for it, and shut the door. Then, unable to suppress his urgency, he quickly opened the box.
Inside were all his belongings from the apartment–his razor, clothes, books, and even photos of him and Annabelle. Each item seemed to carry her scent, stirring an indescribable ache in
his heart.
He carefully sorted through them until he reached the bottom of the box, where he found a voice recorder. After pausing for a moment, he pressed play.

“Anight, Nate’s tot here, so you can drop the whole damsel in distress act. I came here today to make one thing clear, Nate has liked me for years, from the time we were in high school. No matter what you do, gu’ll never win against me, so stop wasting your time.”
