Chapter 9
Jessica carried herself with an air of cool elegance–graceful, poised, and refined. She wasn’t like Seraphine, who was petty and overly calculative, “Sorry, Mr. Fray, but we don’t know each other well. I don’t care who you brought with you, nor does it have anything to do with me,” I said coolly.
Then, I glanced at Jessica and said, “I will call the police if you keep harassing me, though.”
“I’m your boyfriend, Seraphine!” Jordan frowned.
I gave him a cold look before turning to look at Damien as he approached me. I shoved Jordan aside and said, “Sorry, but my boyfriend is here.”
I stepped forward and linked arms with Damien. I cocked my head and smiled at him, asking, “Where were you, Damo? I waited for so long.”
Damien glanced at Jordan. He was about to answer me when a group of CEOs circled him,
They looked at me curiously. “We rarely see you with a female companion, Mr. Stone. This lady looks a little familiar, though.”
“This is Seraphine York. She’s one of my company’s employees,” Damien said.
Jordan’s head shot up when he heard that. This time, he couldn’t contain his anger anymore. He grabbed my hand and dragged me to the villa’s entrance.
Everyone was stunned by that. Suddenly, someo
heone said, “Wait. I remember now! Isn’t Seraphine Mr. Stone’s girlfriend? Then, this lady…”
Their gazes landed on Jessica. Her expression turned awkward, and she lifted the hem of her gown as she hurried out of the villa.
When she reached the entrance, she heard Jordan bark, “Don’t you think you’ve crossed the line, Seraphine? It’s bad enough that you don’t remember me–don’t tell me you’ve forgotten that you work for Fray Corporation! Why have you suddenly gone to work for Stone Corporation?”
“I started working there after I was discharged, Mr. Fray. It’s been a month, and I’m a signed employee now,” I said coolly.
He was taken aback. He’d spent the past month pursuing Jessica and hadn’t paid attention to anything else.
Just then, the sound of high heels clicking on the floor rang out. Jessica stormed past us loud enough that Jordan noticed her.
He grabbed her without hesitation when he saw that she was upset. He softened his tone and asked, “Where are you going, Jessica?”
She stopped and turned to look at him, her usual poise replaced by anger. She frowned at him and asked, “What exactly do you take me for, Mr. Fray? I only agreed to accompany you here after you begged me for a month, but do you know what the people in there are calling me? They’re saying I’m a homewrecker!”
“I haven’t done anything with you! Why do I have to suffer this humiliation?” Her eyes reddened as she aired her grievances tearfully.
“Who came up with that nonsense? I’ll teach them a lesson for you!” Jordan said pacifyingly.
“I’m leaving ” Jessica shook him off and turned to head to the roadside.
He ran after her without hesitation and stuffed her into the front passenger seat of his car. Then, it seemed to hit him that I was still around. He turned to me and said, “I’ll explain this to you later, Sera.”
He got into the car after that. Jessica rolled down the window and shot me a look. It was filled with contempt and scorn, even seemingly smug. She seemed to be telling me that she had emerged victorious while I lay defeated. She was proud she’d trained Jordan to obey her every command like he were a dog.
The following day, Jordan made a beeline for Stone Corporation. He wasn’t there for me, though. He barged into Damien’s office and wreaked havoc.
1 grabbed a fruit knife and followed him in.
