Chapter 6
Jordan didn’t see any trace of a man in the room despite turning it upside down. He refused to believe it and grabbed me by the collar. He bellowed, “Where have you hidden that Stone bastard?”

He scared me, and my head throbbed painfully. A police officer stepped forward to pull him aside, and I crouched on the floor while clutching my head. I turned ashen and looked pained as I said, “My head hurts!”
After that, I passed out.
The hotel manager hurriedly called an ambulance when he saw this. Then, he glared at Jordan and said, “This guest came alone last night! You should know where to draw the line even if you want to frame someone for something!”
Jordan was stunned. He panicked when he saw me lying unconscious on the floor. He wanted to follow the ambulance to the hospital, but the police stopped him after he’d only taken a few steps.
“Sera…” His voice softened when he saw me being carried into the ambulance.
The police didn’t give him the chance to pull his loving act, though. They took him to the police station and gave him a lecture, only releasing him when it was the afternoon.
He hurried to the hospital immediately after.
Dad slapped him upon seeing him and roared, “Look at what you’ve done to my daughter! How dare you show your face here after all the torment you’ve put her through! Do you want to kill her?”
“Mr. York, 1-” Jordan started.
I cut him off. I ducked under the sheets and cried, “I don’t want to see this psycho, Dad! I want to see Damo!”
Damien was taboo to Jordan. Any mention of the former would set the latter on fire.
Jordan roared, “I’m your boyfriend, Seraphine!”
I used to always ask for him, but I’d now switched to asking for Damien, his archenemy. He couldn’t stand it.
Mom dragged him out of the room when she saw him shouting like a madman. Her eyes reddened, and she said, “Please stop provoking Sera, Jordan. She’s lost her memories. She doesn’t remember you anymore.”
“I’m sorry…” Jordan apologized, barely able to suppress his
anger.
Just then, his phone vibrated. His anger disappeared when he saw the message he’d received, and he smiled.
Jessica had texted him and even invited him to join her for a movie date that night.
I glanced at him from the bed, but he wasn’t looking at me. He ran out of the hospital after giving Mom a heads–up. He’d come empty–handed and left like that without another look back.
I retracted my gaze and sighed in relief as I lay down again. I felt something cool against my cheek while I was sleeping and instantly opened my eyes, my gaze guarded. However, the man before me wasn’t Jordan–it was Damien.
My eyes lit up, and I threw myself at him, smiling as I cried, “I knew you still cared about me, Damo! I thought you didn’t want me anymore when you left me alone last night.” Damien’s eyes gleamed as he steadied me. Mom and Dad entered the room just then and were surprised to see him.
Dad said respectfully, “I didn’t expect you to have the time to drop by, Mr. Stone.”
Damien was one of Jeriton City’s most influential people. He came from an affluent family and was a genius at business. Under his leadership, Stone Corporation had taken three short years to step all over Fray Corporation. Even Jordan’s father, Adam Fray, had to make an appointment to see him.
Damien lowered his gaze and hesitated briefly before looking back up at Mom and Dad. He said calmly, “A friend has been hospitalized here. I happened to see Seraphine, so I came in to check on her.”
Dad smiled and nodded, unable to find any flaws in his explanation.
Meanwhile, Mom noticed a bouquet of roses and some food containers on the table. She stepped forward and was surprised when she smelled the aroma of the food. She asked, “What’s all this, Damien?”
A trace of anxiety flickered in Damien’s eyes at that. He said lowly, “I bought these on my way here. Seraphine and I were college mates, after all.”
I immediately rebuked him, “What do you mean we’re just college mates? You’re my boyfriend!”
