A Mashup of Memories 17

Chapter 17

Jordan’s eyes turned red. He was truly out of a place to call home. He had no friends, no kin, and no lover

He suddenly thought about how he’d gotten into trouble after just graduating collegehe’d beaten someone up, making them end up in the hospital. Adam had kicked him out of the house

for it

Seraphine was the one who’d helped him resolve the problem and get back on his feet. In the past, she would’ve come to his side without hesitation as long as he gave her a call or texted her

SeraJordan sat outside my house door for a long time. He hastily got up when he saw me come out

I faltered when I saw how disheveled he looked. His face was covered in bruises, and his eyes had lost its usual luster. There was even mud and dirt on his clothes

I asked stoically, Is there anything you need, Mr. Fray?”

His eyes reddened when he heard me address him like that. Tears streamed down his face when he realized there was no going back to how things were. He said, Everything would’ve been fine if you hadn’t lost your memories, Sera. We would already be married by now.”

I sneered. How naive of him to think it was that simple

I’ve never forgotten you from beginning to end. From the moment I was in the hospital to the day I was dischargedeven until nowyou’ve never felt sorry for the things you’ve done. You’ve done irreparable damage to my heart, Jordan. I only feel disgusted when I look at you now! You deserve death for your betrayal!I snarled

He swayed on his feet. He broke down and cried, WhyWhy did you use amnesia to trick me, Sera? Why did you pick Damien?”

My love for you died the moment you pushed me into the ocean. I had to make you experience the pain I felt, didn’t I?I looked at him with hatred

I’d been helpless and angry when listening to the beeping of the medical equipment around me in the emergency room. The sound of Jordan’s and Jessica’s mocking laughter had replayed in my mind

After making it out alive, I’d opened my eyes in the hospital room to see Jordan by my bedside. However, one look at him had told me that he hadn’t regretted his actions. I hated him

I knew he was proud and arrogantDamien was the only one who’d ever oneupped him at every turn. It was taboo to mention Damien’s name around him

Initially, I hadn’t expected Damien to play along with me. However, I’d only had to take one step in his direction for him to close the distance between us. I knew it was unfair to him- I was just using him

That was why I’d gone to work at Stone Corporation and helped him resolve the problems his company had faced. I’d also tried my best to make him happy

He hadn’t replied to any of my messages after the TV program had aired, though

Do you really hate me so, Sera? Does your hatred for me run so deep that you would torment me like this?Jordan still refused to give up

Leave me alone from now on.I didn’t want to waste any more time on him. I got into my car and drove to Damien’s place

Shortly after I left, Jordan was taken away by the police

Dad had called themhe wanted to bring a case against Jordan for attempted murder

Jordan didn’t even try to make excuses for himself. He admitted his guilt

Meanwhile, I arrived at Damien’s place. I’d heard from my colleagues that no one had seen him the whole afternoon. He hadn’t answered any calls or replied to any texts. This was a first for themhe was known for being a workaholic

I rang the doorbell, but no one answered. I was afraid something had happened to Damien, so I threw my bag inside and used my car as leverage to boost myself over the wall

The door wasn’t locked. I opened it cautiously and called, Damo! Damo, are you here? I’m coming in!”

I stopped short when I got to the living room. An enormous photo hung on one of the wallsI was the woman in the photo. It was one Damien and I had taken in college

I stood before it dazedly for a long time. He and I hadn’t known each other well during college. All I’d known about him was that he was the most handsome guy on campus and the top of his

class

He’d come to me on graduation day and asked to take a photo with me, though. He’d even worn a suit for the occasion

At the time, I’d thought it was just a simple photo between classmates…

The photo was directly opposite the couch. One only had to look up to see it
