Chapter 15
Jordan’s eyes lit up. He grabbed my shoulders in agitation and cried, “Really? Do you remember me now, Sera?”
Meanwhile, Damien turned off his tablet after hearing my words. He stared glumly at a photo of him and me together, knowing that it was time to wake up from his dream.
“Do you remember that I’m your boyfriend?” Jordan tightened his grip on me when I didn’t answer, and his tone turned anxious.
“I do.” I smiled coldly.
He wanted to throw his arms around me, but I pressed a hand to his chest and stopped him.
“I remember you confessing to me for three consecutive years before 1 agreed to be with you, and I remember how you were so agitated that you cried when I said yes. I also remember what you looked like when you swore I would be your one and only. I remember all of that.” My eyes reddened as I spoke.
Then, I asked, “But do you remember any of that?”
He fell silent.
I continued, “You said you brought me umbrellas in the rain and food, but that was only at the very beginning of our relationship. Do you remember what I did for you after that?” Jordan realized things weren’t going as planned. He lowered his voice and tried to persuade me to talk about this in private:
“I guess this means you don’t remember how I ran around for you when you were sick and stayed by your side day and night. I drank on your behalf at banquets, handled your company’s problems, and cleaned up the messes you made.
“I even took a hit for you when you got into a fight with someone, breaking my rib as a result. Do you remember all of that?” I shouted. I’d given Jordan everything I had.
“I do, Sera. I remember!” He held my hand in a panic.
“Do you?” I raised my other hand and pointed at the screen.
Photos of him and another woman half–naked in bed appeared on it. She curled up in his arms, her face hidden from view. The hickeys all over her neck were evident, though. It was clear I was not that woman.
Jordan’s eyes widened in shock. He snapped, “How could you shamelessly install surveillance cameras to snoop on me, Seraphine?”
“I have no interest in watching you get it on with other women, Jordan. She’s the one who sent me these photos last night.” I glared at him.
His mind buzzed. He couldn’t believe his ears. Then, he roared, “That’s bullshit! Jessica would never do something like that! She’s too innocent to pull something like this!”
“Uh–huh. She’s young and innocent, while I’m evil and scheming.” I looked at him with disappointment.
He realized he’d said the wrong thing and tried to salvage the situation, but I backed away.
Jordan hurriedly ended the live stream and dismissed the irrelevant people before turning back to me. He barked, “Are you trying to destroy me, Seraphine? We were together for three years. Don’t you feel anything for me at all? How could you be so cruel?”
“Are you scared now?” I couldn’t help snorting at the fear hidden in his eyes.
“Seraphine…” He stepped forward to hold my hand.
I shook him off and snarled, “Did you stop to think whether I would be scared when you pushed me into the ocean just to make your new love interest smile?”
Dad almost fainted when he heard this.
“I still have nightmares about how it felt to be in the water–I was terrified, and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I still jolt awake in the middle of the night because of that!
“What makes you think you can just run off and enjoy yourself? You pursued another woman, bought her expensive gifts and a villa, and you even slept with her!” I screamed. I gave Jordan my heart, but he played me like a fiddle.
