The brief interruption ended quickly. The priest resumed his blessings, and the gentle melody of the wedding march filled the air again.
Enola walked slowly down the aisle with her arm linked with Declan’s. Delicate pink rose petals softly drifted around them, creating an atmosphere that was both romantic and joyful.
As they approached Parker, Declan’s face grew serious, despite the deepened wrinkles around his eyes from his earlier joyful expression.
He looked Parker firmly in the eyes and said, “Brat, since you’ve convinced someone else’s daughter to marry you, you’d better treat Ennie right! If you ever dare to hurt her, you’ll answer to me first!”
“I will,” Parker promised solemnly.
Everything proceeded smoothly. The priest began the vows and turned to Enola, asking the critical question, “Ms. Crawford, do you take Mr. Sadler as your husband, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health?”
Enola looked at Parker, and memories from their four years together rushed vividly through her mind. Smiling warmly, she opened her mouth to reply, “I-” “I object!”
The doors suddenly burst open. Robert rushed in breathlessly, cutting off Enola just as she was about to say, “I do.”
His abrupt appearance was like a stone thrown into a calm lake, instantly causing ripples of shock and confusion among the guests. Murmurs broke out immediately as everyone speculated about the identity of the unexpected intruder.
Ignoring the chaos around him, Robert walked straight toward the center of the stage. He grabbed Enola by the wrist, despite her struggles, and insisted sharply, “Come with me.” Parker swiftly moved to block Robert, his gaze filled with cold suspicion. “Who are you, and why are you trying to take Ennie away? Can’t you see she doesn’t want to go with you?” Robert paused, halted by Parker’s interference. He scrutinized Parker from head to toe, and his gaze was openly disdainful and provocative, causing Parker’s brows to furrow slightly. Yet, as Robert took in Parker’s appearance, complex emotions suddenly stirred within him.
Parker was indeed handsome and carried himself with dignity and poise. More importantly, the suit he wore was clearly tailored to match Enola’s wedding dress.
A powerful wave of jealousy surged through Robert, leaving a bitter taste in his mouth. He still held tightly onto Enola’s wrist, unwilling to let go. Yet, he lifted his chin slightly after remembering his own position, still refusing to yield.
“I’m her family member–her guardian,” Robert declared openly. Then, turning to Enola, he asked directly, “Will you come with me?”
At first, he was confident she’d go with him. But this tirne, reality betrayed his expectations. Enola gently pried his fingers from her wrist, one by one, before pulling her hand free and stepping back.
When their eyes met again, the cold detachment in her gaze sent a chill through him.

“Robbie, today is my wedding day with Parker. Why would I leave with you?”
Why? The answer was right on the tip of his tongue, yet he forced it down.
For a moment, Robert found himself speechless. He opened his mouth several times, but in the end, he said nothing.
What could he say? That the person she truly loved was him? That she shouldn’t be marrying someone else?
But he was her guardian. Even if they weren’t related by blood, he couldn’t deny he had raised her for ten years. He couldn’t let his own reckless emotions push her into a scandal, dragging her into the mud of public scrutiny and gossip.
Enola took another step back, maintaining a polite but distant demeanor. “If you’re here to attend any wedding with Parker, Robbie, you’re welcome to take a seat. But if you’re only here to make a scene because you’re in a bad mood, then I won’t be seeing you out.”
Robert was somewhat in disbelief.
Was she… Was she actually telling him to leave?
Disbeliei gripped him but the coldness in Enola’s expression left him no room to doubt.
After a long silence, his voice came out hoarse, almost as if it were his last attempt to hold on, “You’re really going to marry someone else?”
Even after seeing her standing there in a wedding gown beside another man, he still couldn’t accept it. Had she truly let go of the past? Had she truly chosen to be with someone else?
She had loved him for so many years. How was he supposed to believe this?
