Chapter 11
Caleb snapped back to reality and instinctively blurted, “af course not!”
Seeing the skepticism on his friends‘ faces, he continued coldly. “I’ve said it before the only reason I’m doing this is for Christine’s guaranteed grad school spot. Sure, Sophia did say she was planning to get a job instead of pursuing a master’s degree. But the finalized list is not out yet. Who knows if she’ll change her mind? Hence, I must maintain a good relationship with her and make sure she forgives me!”
His words weren’t just meant for his friends; they were also to convince himself.
Yes, Everything he did was for christine. All his actions, all his persistence it was for the sake of contingency.
That had to bet
But his friends didn’t seem to buy it.
“Bat Cal, if you just wanted Sophia to forgive you, you didn’t have to go so hard on those guys… I heard the Walker family is already looking for yours
“That’s enough?” Pushed to his limit, Caleb snapped and cut them off
Looking out to the open field, his expression darkened even further. “Where in the world is Sophia? Why is she not here yet?“
By now, it was already
He initially thought Sophia would show up no matter how angry: was she wouldn’t be able to bear seeing him standing out in the blazing sun for hours without
food or watRİ.
But she still hadn’t shown up.
He had sent her countless messages, but none yielded a reply.
An unexplainable sense of panic brewed in his heart. Just as he was about to send her another message to remind her, his phone vibrated.
His eyes lit up as he saw Sophia’s name on the screen.
He tapped open at lightning speed, only to see two text messages.
“Caleb, letsbreakup.
His entire body stiffened.
Meanwhile, his bunch of friends chattered on.
“Cal, 1 think it would be best if you dealt with the Walkers first instead of worrying about Sophia 1 mean, they may not be as influential as your family, but they’re hot pushovers eller..”
But before they could finish, Caleb had already taken off running like a madman. “Hey! Cal, where are you going?”
He spirited all the way to the girls‘ dormitory.
“Sophia Lane!” he yelled from below. “Sophia, come down here and talk to me! What do you mean you’re breaking up with me?
Calet was nearing his boiling point. He thought Sophia was only throwing a tantrum over last night’s incident. Never in a million years did he expect her to break
He could still vividly call her soll, gentle demeanor–the way she blushed and the quickened shythm of her heartbeat whenever she saw him. He simply couldn’t accept that the same person had sent those cold, dismissive works
Yet, at the same time, he law Sophia wasn’t one to speak lightly. She was someone who always followed through on her words
When she said she wanted to complete her research project, she worked day and night without resting until it was done.
When she said she wanted to learn how to ice skate, slur kept practicing until she mastered it, pushing through the falls and the bruises.
Panic began to consume him because he knew her as someone so resolute. He dialed her mobile over and over again, but her cell was tuned off.
With no other option, he continued shouting outside the dom, drawing acrowd- including the wanden.
“You again” the warden exclaimed, glaring at him. Were it not for his infuriating charm, his smooth words, and the constant stream of trinkets, she would have reported him long ago,
Barely suppressing her impatience, she began, “Stop yelling Sophia has already moved o
